About this listen

I had a crap marriage. I mean, it was real crap.

I suffered from wanton abuse for 15 years until I finally mustered the strength to run away and begin my life again. But my journey’s by no means over. In many ways, it’s just getting started. I still have massive amounts of recovery left. And even though the process is very much underway, you never know what can pop up in my life that will trigger old traumas or uncover pieces of my psyche that remain damaged.

My healing starts with this memoir. My healing begins with putting my experiences on paper and getting everything organized in a way that I can observe and deeply reflect upon them.

You will hear stories from my past, such as:

  • How I met my future crappy wife

  • How and why I overlooked and leaped across countless red flags, to get to the ever-coveted marriage ceremony

  • How and when things started breaking down

  • The countless stories of abuse and neglect I suffered for a long and hard 15 years

  • The impact having children had upon our ill-fated union

  • The multiple futile attempts we took to patch things up and perhaps set ourselves on a better path together

  • When the straw broke the camel’s back, leading me to a life of newfound freedom once again

  • How life was after the divorce was finalized, and how I was finally able to regain my freedom and my identity once again

  • The many soul-crushing moments that sent me deeper and deeper into feelings of hopelessness and despair

  • My countless epiphanies I had reflecting back upon those many challenging years

And so much more!

In my epic autobiographical tale, you will learn:

  • What is the definition of abuse? What does it really look like?

  • What does it mean to be married to a narcissist?

  • What is the true definition of a red flag?

  • How do you know your marriage is inappropriate and needs to come to an end?

  • Do you really marry a person’s family? If so, what are the implications?

  • How do you recover after suffering through such a horrendous experience? When should you start?

  • When is your own home the least safe place in your life?

  • How long should you date before you make any major decisions? What are things to consider and pitfalls you should avoid so you don’t find yourself sitting across from a divorce lawyer once again?

  • What do you do when the post-divorce loneliness inevitably creeps in?

  • Why would you want to spend your precious time wallowing in nearly two-decade of my incessant misery?

This is not a tale of adventure for the faint-hearted. What I suffered was very, very real. Bitterness can be felt in each and every word, so if you’re looking for an uplifting read from cover to cover, you might want to pick up Chicken Soup for the Soul.

My journey is a radically painful one, and the recovery is not even close to speedy. So read ahead with caution.

If you‘ve been divorced or know someone who has been divorced, or you or an acquaintance are contemplating divorce, this might be the perfect book for you. Is it possible it will scare the crap out of you? Absolutely. But it’s also distinctly possible reading my book will change your life forever.

Maybe you’ll just read along, nodding as each and every story resonates with you. Of course, misery loves company. So we can’t possibly go wrong there.

Or maybe my book will inform you that your suffering is real and you need to learn to recognize that it’s not OK, you’re not alone, and a better life is absolutely possible.

Have a look inside my book. Could you or a loved one benefit from listening to my words of intense suffering? If so, join me in my return to happiness.
