Departure From All Other Powder River Seasons

What made the experience of listening to Powder River: Season 11, Vol. 1 the most enjoyable?

Since I abhor spoilers, I am going to be circumspect in this review.

I have every episode from every season of this outstanding production. Just as do the other episodes, Powder River Season 11 has, without qualification, the most beautiful blend of music, sound effects, acting and writing among all radioplays I've listened to.

Mind you, I have a great library of radio shows. Including several seasons of Gunsmoke and Dragnet, plus the complete series of James Stewart as Britt Ponsett in Six Shooter.

Not to take anything away from the three classics, but, it is Jerry Robbin's Powder River that is the most complete, most satisfying and most memorable. The voice acting is superb and, what really amazes me, is comprised of people whom, outside of Colonial Radio Theater, are pretty much unknown. That's a shame, because, in my book, each of them is a star in his or her own right.

Season 11 is a departure from all the previous productions though. Aside from the opening alluded to in the description page, this volume goes a little deeper into the history of Clearmont and its citizens. So, if you have listened to the other seasons, you may learn something about McMasters and his fellow citizens that you might have expected.

As with all episodes, my wife and I were glued to the car radio to learn what sort of mishap would befall Levi, Doc, or Etta and we were not disappointed.

Another reviewer states that Powder River is the best series ever. My only regret is that he got to make that declaration before me.

Five stars out of five.
