About this listen

The twenty-first book in the hugely popular Peter Decker and Rina Lazarus series from New York Times bestselling author Faye Kellerman

LAPD Detective Peter Decker is about to face a case that will push him to the limit…

Residents in a local building have been complaining of a smell coming from an apartment rented by the eccentric inventor Hobart Penny.

Nearly ninety-years-old, and a hermit for the last 25 years, it is not surprising that the reclusive genius has died without anyone’s knowledge. However, as Decker steps inside, it’s clear that Penny has died from anything but natural causes…

Penny’s children describe their father as a cruel and vindictive man. His second wife knew a man with strange sexual appetites, while the owner of a Californian animal charity speaks only of a kind-hearted old man.

But further searches not only add to the list of suspects, but find evidence of a disturbed, depraved mind. So just who was Hobart Penny? A brilliant inventor, a generous philanthropist or a callous killer?
Published in the USA as ‘The Beast’.

Gripping performance and action packed

Would you consider the audio edition of Predator (Peter Decker and Rina Lazarus Crime Thrillers) to be better than the print version?

For me, I like audio books, specially if the narrator is exccelent and great performance.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Predator (Peter Decker and Rina Lazarus Crime Thrillers)?

Peter Decker's interaction with Gabe. The story line was very realistic and kept me guessing. In the beginning I did not like the Gabe character but he slowly grow on you.

Have you listened to any of Mitchell Greenberg’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Mitchell Greenberg is absolutely excellent in his performance!

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

It totally action packed and fascinating!

Any additional comments?

I followed all the Peter Decker stories and loved all of them!
I liked the way the characters unravel the story, the human elements that came out in the teenager’s action, and the older characters reaction to that. The direct way Gabe speak, acting like a teen and talking like an old man. The way Rina and Peter interact give it that normality of a family life though I think this wonderful presentation of it is not always reality. It would have been nice to have some disagreement between the main characters to give it more of a real life type of story.
