About this listen

In Primary Threat (The Forging of Luke Stone, Book 3), a ground-breaking action thriller by number one best seller Jack Mars, elite Delta Force veteran Luke Stone, 29, leads the FBI's Special Response Team as they respond to a hostage situation on an oil rig in the remote Arctic.

Yet what at first seems like a simple terrorist event may, it turns out, be much more.

With a Russian master plan unfolding rapidly in the Arctic, Luke may have arrived at the precipice of the next world war.

And Luke Stone may just be the only man standing in its way.

Primary Threat is a standalone, un-putdownable military thriller, a wild action ride that will leave you listening late into the night. The precursor to the number one best-selling Luke Stone thriller series, this series takes us back to how it all began, a riveting series by best seller Jack Mars, dubbed "one of the best thriller authors" out there.

Also available is Jack Mars' number one best-selling Luke Stone thriller series (seven books), which begins with Any Means Necessary (Book 1), which has over 800 five-star reviews!

Reader makes Luke Stone sound too whiney. Likewise the storyline of his wife is just awful. Hanging up, childishly acting not like the wife in later book. these 2 things detract from this book. big fan of L. Stone and read all of the book.

Good Story Line

Needs a little more planning, talk about the mission gear, specifics weapons, call-signs, assets that could be used for advantage or asset currently on station. What kind of rifle does he or she have HK416s, a sig P228 or P229 or Hk USP compact. Suppressors, uniforms and gear need to be put in the book. I was a good book but with little chambers it would. Be even better! Cheers!

Great Book

Not my favorite. The verbal sound effects distracted from the action being described. Use an audio file or text to illustrate the desired noise. The 8+ hour countdown was ridiculous. Being in a hurry or racing the clock does NOT make you faster. It felt like filler from a another writer. Funny it sounds like I didn't enjoy the story but I did but it felt really hurried.

A Slow Rolling...

I have yet to read anything by Mars which was not riveting page Turner.

I love this author and his style.

It's a very good book. But, when the extreme action is more laughable than believable, that is not good.

A little bit over the top!

why did the character Murphy have to sound like a 1930's era gangster? yeah ya see, your going to get us killed ya see, yeah...... could have done with out that.

bad choice for Murphy

I usually dont like to complain but I still think the reader detracts from the overall enjoyment of this series - otherwise its great!!

Not so good reader

It's a good story, the narration is grating. the protagonists almost all sound like whiny gangsters from the 1930's-50's, accents get butchered, intonation more playful than in the suck ... I'm glad there's another narrator for the full fledged Luke Stone series.

I'm glad I'm done with the "Forging of Luke Stone"
