About this listen
From legendary investor Ray Dalio, author of the international bestseller Principles, who has spent half a century studying global economies and markets, Principles for Dealing with the Changing World Order examines history’s most turbulent economic and political periods to reveal why the times ahead will likely be radically different from those we’ve experienced in our lifetimes - but similar to those that have happened many times before.
A few years ago, Ray Dalio noticed a confluence of political and economic conditions he hadn’t encountered before. They included huge debts and zero or near-zero interest rates that led to massive printing of money in the world’s three major reserve currencies; big political and social conflicts within countries, especially the US, due to the largest wealth, political and values disparities in more than 100 years; and the rising of a world power (China) to challenge the existing world power (US) and the existing world order. The last time that this confluence occurred was between 1930 and 1945. This realisation sent Dalio on a search for the repeating patterns and cause/effect relationships underlying all major changes in wealth and power over the last 500 years.
In this remarkable and timely addition to his Principles series, Dalio brings readers along for his study of the major empires - including the Dutch, the British and the American - putting into perspective the 'Big Cycle' that has driven the successes and failures of all the world’s major countries throughout history.
Dalio reveals the timeless and universal forces behind these shifts and uses them to look into the future, offering practical principles for positioning oneself for what’s ahead.

Great informative book. Courageous author
Well researched subject with compelling data to support the book's conclusions. Author not afraid of being labelled for telling the true. All empires fails, it's now America's term. What and how we deal with this fact is the main point to this book. Great job, Mr. Dalio.

A Bird's Eye View
The strongest conveyed message relates to cause and effect of not only financial, but also political and social sectors. Learn from the past in order to best position yourself through the assessment of current affairs.

Uncovers more of what we already know
The cycles and non/low political view are the hightlights of this audiobook, even though it repeated itself from chapter to chapter. All in all a good listen and could be much shorter

Good but long
Listened at x1.4 and really struggled to get through it. The books ok but didn’t take away that much that I have done from other in depth, books
Last two chapters most interesting, can’t remember much from the others.
I give it four stars becuase it’s got a lot of effort and good in sight and research but jus didn’t capture me

Informative and thought provoking
I can recommend this book, it’s informative, thought provoking and useful if you are someone who is not sure how to manage their wealth especially over a period of global uncertainty. My only criticism is that it often reads like an economics textbook

Outstanding global view
Highly enlightening, history-driven model of the rise and fall of empires. Has given me a clear and comprehensive perspective on global dynamics between countries, across history and into the future. Highly recommended.

Absolutely brilliant
I’m a huge fan of Ray Dalio and his work (both investment and literary). Can’t wait to read his future Magnus Opus and will definitely be re-reading this one.
