About this listen

Billionaire playboy Peter Wells pays for sex. His girlfriend-for-hire arrangements are tidy, simple, and not apt to land him with a palimony suit. When an anonymous gossip columnist reveals his predilections for escorts and control, Peter vows revenge.

Georgia Whitcomb is a lot of things - incognito journalist, aristocrat, and best friend to a sleep-deprived and slightly neurotic editor - but she isn't really girlfriend material. She's old money pretending to be no money and has her independence to maintain. When the paper won't name its source, Peter buys the business and dubs Georgia his personal assistant.

Georgia is mortified to learn exactly what type of person Peter is - generous, compassionate, demanding. Peter is unprepared for the deep passion and commitment Georgia inspires from him. As Peter's past comes to light, the walls around Georgia's heart erode, and her lies begin to unravel.

In the end there seems to be no way to reveal her true self without destroying their fragile romance. With Peter's investigation peeling back the layers of her deception, only one thing is certain: The fallout from falling in love will be front-page news.

Cold & Calculating

The good news: Noah Michael Levine has a deep, sexy voice - perfect for narrating a sexy novel. In addition, Tibby Armstrong showed excellent writing ability, with the exception of the 2 leading characters Peter (billionaire bully) and Georgia (spineless wimp).

The bad news: Peter was an egotistical, self absorbed jerk who was so cold I was afraid he would give his lovers freezer burn. In the first chapter, Peter attended a charity event with a paid escort who he casually hit, then paid $3,000 to get lost. Peter seemed to view women only as service providers - domestic, sexual, or administrative.

Even though Peter treated Georgia like dirt, she instantly became enamored (can't explain the attraction) and allowed herself to be screwed (literally and emotionally). Peter was condescending, obnoxious and rude, so I lost interest in this book when Georgia appeared to relish his degrading behavior.

Public Relations had the potential to be an entertaining novel, if only Peter had some redeeming qualities and Georgia processed a backbone & self respect. I am so tired of the FSOG theme: stupid, immature girls who swoon over abusive, controlling assholes.

A 'FEEL GOOD' ROMANCE & PURE PERFECT ESCAPISM

After listening to my last book I just wanted a bit of lighthearted contemporary fluff and that is exactly what I got from this listen but so much more too. At a Charity Ball Gossip Reporter Georgia witnessed something in a side room that she shouldn't have and wrote a damning article about handsome and debonaire Billionaire businessman Peter. Outraged Peter had to find the woman responsible so bought the Paper and was determined to get his revenge.

When Georgia is forced to spend time with Peter she sees beneath his cold 'paid professional hookups' and discovers the tragic reason why he's like that. But it's her that is keeping secrets and leading a double life and the closer they become the more he opens up to Georgia which means it's getting harder to keep her secret until she no longer wants to. However, does she come clean and will she survive the fireworks?

A totally sweet, ultimately predictable, implausible yet entertaining and enjoyable plot, a nice group of secondary characters, intrigue, drama, fun, likeable heroine and hero especially when their deep routed layers were finally peeled back, romance and steamy sex scenes. Dual POV's good narration.

Worth a credit? If you're in the mood for an easy listen with a good romantic plot that's got suspense and heat then YEAH this'll deliver.
