About this listen
What's an American girl with a big mouth but an equally big heart to do?
Lizzie Nichols has a problem, and it isn't that she doesn't have the slightest idea what she's going to do with her life or that she's blowing what should be her down payment on a cute little Manhattan apartment on a trip to London to visit her long-distance boyfriend, Andrew. But what's the point of planning for the future when she's done it again? See, Lizzie can't keep her mouth shut. And it's not just that she can't keep her own secrets, she can't keep anything to herself.
This time when she opens her big mouth, her good intentions get Andrew in major hot water. So now Lizzie's stuck in London with no boyfriend and no place to stay until the departure date on her nonrefundable airline ticket.
Fortunately, there's Shari, Lizzie's best friend and college roommate, who's spending her summer in southern France, catering weddings with her boyfriend, Chaz, in a 16th-century chateau. One call and Lizzie's on a train to Souillae. Who cares if she's never traveled alone in her life and only speaks rudimentary French? One glimpse of gorgeous Chateau Mirac, not to mention the gorgeous Luke, the son of Chateau Mirac's owner, and she's smitten.
But while most caterers can be trusted to keep a secret, Lizzie's the exception. And no sooner has the first cork been popped than Luke hates her, the bride is in tears, and it looks like Chateau Mirac is in danger of becoming a lipo-recovery spa. As if things aren't bad enough, her ex-boyfriend Andrew shows up looking for "closure" (or at least a loan), threatening to ruin everything, including Lizzie's chance at finding real love...unless she can figure out a way to use that big mouth of hers to save the day.

Heather Wells rocks! Or, at least, she did. That was before she left the pop-idol life behind after she gained a dress size or two - and lost a boyfriend, a recording contract, and her life savings (when Mom took the money and ran off to Argentina). Now that the glamour and glory days of endless mall appearances are in the past, Heather's perfectly happy with her new size 12 shape (the average for the American woman!) and her new job as an assistant dorm director at one of New York's top colleges.

Siobhan is a quick-tempered life coach with way too much on her plate. Miranda is a tree surgeon used to being treated as just one of the guys on the job. Jane is a soft-spoken volunteer for the local charity shop with zero sense of self-worth. Editorial reviews
Ilyana Kadushin ably animates the effervescent character of Lizzie Nichols, meddling fashion maven who embroils herself in a French chateau wedding fiasco. While Ilyana Kadushin admirably captures Lizzie's wry yet naïve worldview, her renditions of some of the accents - the British accent of Lizzie's low-life ex-boyfriend as well as the French and Texan voices of the chateau guests - can feel inauthentic. Also, when Lizzie talks with her best friend, Shari, or her love interest, Luke, it's hard to tell who is speaking. Still, Kadushin's chatty tones and reverent descriptions of vintage clothing competently evoke the reassuring optimism of Cabot's world.

Award-winning poet Marisa de los Santos crafts an irresistibly touching debut novel. Love Walked In is a contemporary tale, steeped in nostalgic, cinematic charm, of love in all its forms. Unapologetically idealistic about love, Cornelia Brown appears to catch the break of a lifetime when the dashing Martin Grace, her own personal Cary Grant, comes strolling into her life. But it is Martin's connection to 11-year-old Clare Hobbes that touches Cornelia's heart in ways she never imagined.

Fun listen...
Well this book was a fun listen. It wasn't earth shattering, or totally riveting... but it was entertaining. There were several parts that were unbelievable - reminded me of a lot of the teen/college romantic movies with the unbelievable plot lines. But if you ignore those few intances, it's a light, fun listen. Good narration as well.

It was not my favorite
I love the Queen of Babble series and Meg Cabot in general. The narrator did a great job bringing the characters to life for me - but I wish I had read the reviews first before purchase. This is an abridged version and there is a LOT of plot removed which makes the story move too quickly and much of the underlying plot which motivates character is missing. It was abruptly ended also with none of the smooth resolution and lead up to the next book i'd expect.
5 star story from Meg when you read the whole thing. A light easy read. 3 stars for whoever edited the plot for this version.

Amusing read
I very much enjoyed this book. The characters are unique but believable. This book made me smile and laugh. Love that part of this is set in a French Chateau with a winery/vineyard. Lovely setting.

Portions of the book are not included in recording
Having read this book several time, I knew what to expect. Ilyana Kadishin was a great narrator. I was disappointed to hear that the "thesis" portion of the book was left out, which renders a plot point towards the end of the book ineffective since it comes out of nowhere.

This an abridged version and is not exactly like the book
Although the performance was okay, this title did not meet my expectations. I have read this book many times previously to buying the audio book. Within the first few minutes I noticed some differences… one in particular that makes me laugh every time. To be sure i pulled out my copy of the book and followed along. The audio version is still entertaining but not my favorite.
