About this listen

It took a trip to Paris for these two women to learn to like each other, but will their race for the gold shatter their budding romance?

Paula
After two years of training with Deena Lovelace, one thing is clear: she doesn’t like me. That’s okay, I’m not too fond of her either. But when our coach assigns us to be roommates at the International Games in Paris, I’m surprised to learn that our team Ice Queen has a warm side. I’m also surprised to realize that I’m falling in love with her.

Deena
I’ve never understood why Paula Martinez hates me, but when we’re assigned to stay in the same room at the Games, we unexpectedly become friends. My social anxiety and neurodivergence tends to keep people at a distance but with Paula, all I want to do is get closer. Once she gets to know the real me, I start thinking that we could have a future together, maybe even one of those fairytale sports romances. At least until our big marathon, when everything falls apart…

They play for the same team, but they’re also competitors. Will their desire to win at all costs make these athletes lose at the game of love?

“Racing for Love” is part of the “Playing to Win” lesbian sports romance series. Each romantic comedy is a standalone story centered around sapphic athletes who find love during the most important competition of their careers. If you like snarky enemies-to-lovers banter, competitive spirits, loving queer relationships, and a sweet happily ever after, download these WLW stories today.

Good Message About Love

I wasn’t expecting much from this short sports romance. In fact, it wasn’t even on my radar to read until Audible said I had so many days to listen to it before it was gone. Since I had just finished three long books back to back and was kind of floundering on what to listen to next, I decided this palette cleanser that is so far out of my norm is perfect for me, right now.

It is your typical comfort romance where two individuals are the best in the business at what they do and are in competition with one another. At first that competition drives them against each other before they find themselves in each other’s arms. While there is spice in this short novella, it is the ending that I love the most and the message the storyteller delivers about love, supporting your partner even through heartache, and loving yourself so you are able to love someone else.

One is on the Spectrum

Deena is on the spectrum. Highly intelligent and social inept. Paula for the most part is understanding and with a bit of a hiccup, they learn to work things out for their HEA.
