 Every time there is a blatantly racist public incident, the first response is denial. Once denial does not take root and before an admission is provided, the conversation about racism is raised as a delaying tactic and later an obfuscation. Ultimately the call for conversation stops and any conversations that may have started fades out of public view until the next blatantly racist incident occurs. The solution is to have a definition which is sorely lacking. My course on racism starts off with definition but conversations, discussions, and workshops start off with scenarios that have been encountered in real life in America.
