Publisher's summary

In the far North, near the US-Canadian border, there sits a little town where everything is a bit different. After a meteorite splashed down in 1975, all wireless communication was knocked out except for the tiny, low-power radio station operating out of the town's historic opera house. Now, 40 years later, the station, known simply as Radio Icebox, is fighting against mysterious aliens, zombie turkeys, disappearing gypsy women, men in black, and more! And it all keeps coming back to that meteorite....

Gets MUCH better as it goes along

Once the fantasy elements are introduced it picks up considerably - even more so when the fantasy elements turn into science fiction.

Wonderfully Fresh

What made the experience of listening to Radio Icebox: Broadcasts from the Nowhere Zone the most enjoyable?

The development and interaction of all the characters. The comedy in it was always great and mixed perfectly with the drama, paranormal, horror etc. entities of the story.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Radio Icebox: Broadcasts from the Nowhere Zone?

Too many to name just one but something that always makes me smile is the ringmasters manner of speaking and tone.

What does the narrators bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Of course it's not a book but the cast has great chemistry of course and do a great job of playing off of each other.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

It certainly made me laugh.

Any additional comments?

I have no idea how the other review currently up as I write this can call it a soap opera as it is a radio play series of a different genres, big difference in exact styles. Also maybe a few of the performances may be "amateurish" at points but this medium always has those same moments of weakness and the icebox radio theatre is as good as anyone out there. I can't wait for season 2 to be released on here. Also I wish they had included the sort of whacky and often hilarious news reads that were on the actual podcast. Might have been nice to have the plays too.

Not Like "Frozen Frights"! Be Aware...

Any additional comments?

I didn't pay close attention when I purchased this. I had just enjoyed Frozen Frights Vol 1 and somehow was thinking this was the same premise. It is NOT. This is not a collection of stories, but rather a "soap opera" based on the actual fictional Icebox Radio station, and it's key players. While the script does have it's moments, and it does have some very unique plot twists, the performances are pretty amateur for the most part, and, compared to Frozen Frights, I was disappointed. (Again, to be fair, had I paid closer attention to the description, I would have saved myself the disappointment.)
