About this listen

The voices of children are no longer heard in the streets of Jericho. Its patron goddess, Asherah, claims the newborns, its king profits and lives in the city’s palace, crime is never more than a step around the corner, and Ladies of the Night are often found dead by morning.

For Rahab, this has become her life. She is a harlot, and she is convinced this is her mothers’ fault.

Now a nomadic people known as the Israelites have conquered two kings nearby, just east of the Jordan River Valley. At first, Rahab takes only mild notice. But then two spies enter Jericho and break into her house, and suddenly, against all odds, these enemies provide her a way out.

To avoid Jericho’s impending doom, Rahab the harlot must find a way to trust these foreign men (one of whom she is drawn to), defy the king to whom she is chained, and somehow forgive her mother--all before the Israelites come and tear down the walls of her wretched, sin-filled city.

This based-on-a-true story explores the difficult work of forgiveness (both giving and receiving) and examines the heart of grace and God's peculiar methods of bestowing it on those willing to let go their bitterness, all under the threat of encroaching disaster.
