About this listen

When Darwin Merriweather, code name, Weatherman, hears about the deadly nationwide pandemic sweeping the country leaving millions dead, he sets about protecting his mountainside home. If the madness has hit the town below, he knows it won’t be long before scavengers climb the mountain. He plans on being ready. However, his work is interrupted when he receives a desperate radio call from two members of the special forces unit he once led. Pinned down, wounded, and with ammunition running out, the two men don’t have long to live. With his friend's lives at stake, Weatherman leaves the safety of his cabin.

The journey to reach them is fraught with danger and deadly encounters. With time running out, Weatherman must call on all the dormant skills that once made him one of the most feared and unstoppable killing forces in the service. But even his skills and determination may not be enough to save his friends.

I’ve listened to the 1st two books in this series and I love it so far! I say this in all my reviews but I’ll say it again. I listen to a book a day and have done so for years. I’ve read it all and was giving up hope on finding a new PA series to love until I found this one. Fast action, great characters and an intriguing storyline. I enjoyed the narration as well. I started off listening to books at 1.2x speed a while ago and once I got used to that I listen to most books at 1.5 to 1.7x speed and have noticed it can enhance most narrators. Highly recommend!!

💥💥💥💥Great post apocalyptic series!! 💥💥

Darwin Merriweather, known as Weatherman, learns about a devastating national virus tearing through the country, leaving chaos and death in its wake. Isolated in his mountaintop sanctuary, he believes himself secure—until a brutal wake-up call nearly costs him his life. Forced into action, he reaches out to his tight-knit group of battle-hardened friends and plans to rescue those in need. But as he navigates a collapsing world, powerful factions emerge, intent on either recruiting him for their own ends—or eliminating him entirely.

Ray Wenck masterfully weaves a gripping tale of survival in an apocalyptic world, where some seize the chaos to reshape society. Each character is deeply developed, their bonds portrayed with subtle intensity that avoids focusing on the darker aspects of their past. The dialogue is raw and authentic, perfectly suited to the high-stakes situation. Wenck captures the mindset of those driven by power, beliefs, and corruption, creating an immersive narrative that echoes the fears many experienced during the recent pandemic.

Jack de Golia delivers a powerful performance, his versatile voice bringing each character to life with precision and emotion. His ability to capture the essence of each character, along with his seamless cadence, pulls the listener fully into the story.

This book is not only captivating but evokes memories and reflections on the shared fears and experiences of Covid, making it all the more impactful.
