About this listen
In Ben's world, dragons exist like dogs and fulfill all the doggy functions with dragon overlays, like having two heads, or being able to fly. The dragons all correspond to various breeds of dog.
At last, some Paul Jennings books for early readers, each with the satisfying trademark Paul Jennings twist!

Here is a fun short story about a little boy determined to have his own dragon, and the grumpy father who won't let him - at least at first. The talented Australian performer Rebecca Macauley repeats the story several times in different ways, first with energetic music, the second time with sounds that tell kids when to flip the page, and the third time with just her voice alone, allowing children to supply their own sound effects. A charming story from the beloved Australian children's book author Peter Jennings.

Rascal the Irritating Soundtrack
What disappointed you about Rascal the Dragon?
I like Paul Jennings and this is well read, however...I'm not familiar with these particular books and when I purchased a file that was say, 15 minutes long, I expected my children to be hearing 15 minutes of engaging story. What I received was about 4 minutes of story, repeated (with chimes for page turns the second time), and the most annoying, abrasive, intrusive and painful musical backing that I've ever encountered. My kids and I listened to all 4 Rascal stories available, once we'd worked out to skip to the next file once the first reading had been completed in each file. At the end they asked that I not play them again as while they loved hearing the story, they didn't like the music. No problem from me.
Would you ever listen to anything by Paul Jennings again?
Yes I certainly would, however I would be more wary.
How did the narrator detract from the book?
Well read but should be a shorter and cheaper file.
