About this listen

A quiet little mountain town is hiding a big problem. When the townsfolk of Raven's Peak start acting crazy, Abigail Dressler is called upon to find out what is happening. She uncovers a demonic threat unlike any she's ever faced and finds herself in a fight just to stay alive.

She rescues Haatim Arison from a terrifying fate and discovers that he has a family legacy in the supernatural that he knows nothing about. Now she's forced to protect him, which is easy, and also trust him if she wants to save the townsfolk of Raven's Peak. Trust, however, is considerably more difficult for someone who grew up living on the knife's edge of danger. Can they discover the cause of the town's insanity and put a stop to it before it is too late?

Great Paranormal Series!

I was given this free review copy audio book at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

This was a great paranormal book. It was classified as horror, but I'm not sure I agreed with the classification. There was some horrificness (if that's even a word) but it felt more like a Jim Butcher (Harry Dresden series) or John G. Hartness book (Quincy Harker series). The story was great and the characters were interesting. I also thought the narrator did a great job. She didn't struggle with voicing male characters as I've experienced with other female narrators. She did what a good narrator is supposed to, she brought the characters to life. I'll definitely look for more in this series.

Raven's Peak

This is full of adventure and excitement.I enjoyed it.Abigail is a cop,of sorts. She is part of a team that takes care of things.Hateen is just a nobody caught up in a chase,or is he?The play off these two is really interesting, though at times too repetitive.Stephanie Dillard was a very good narrator.“I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the author, narrator, or publisher.”

Rough Start but well worth sticking with.

The beginning of the story was a little confusing because it just drops into the middle of something we know nothing about. As the story progresses, the beginning gets explained and becomes much clearer. I know this technique is used quite often, but this story opening expects you to know something about where it is going.
Beyond this (about the first half hour or so), the story is really good. Well written from that point out and thoroughly enjoyable. The concept was interesting and the story progression was fast paced.
The Narrator was great. Struggled a little in the beginning, but I think that was more the story than the narrator, but after that, she did a fine job.

Who doesn't like slaying evil?

Would you consider the audio edition of Raven's Peak to be better than the print version?

I have not read the printed version, but I always like the audio versions of books a little better.

What did you like best about this story?

I love stories about people who fight demons. The hate and depravity of such beings takes a lot of tenacity and grit.

Which scene was your favorite?

Ill try not to give anything away, but towards the end there is a scene that shows that physical weapons aren't the only things you can use to fight evil. That scene gave me goosebumps.

Who was the most memorable character of Raven's Peak and why?

Arthur, he had a mysterious past and unparalleled skill when it came to the destruction of demons. He also made the ultimate sacrafice for those he loved and now is in a mysterious hypo-hell that I'm looking forward to learning more about in later books.

Any additional comments?

Raven's Peak

Any additional comments?

This book had me hooked right away. I love Abigail's spunk. Hatrim (sp?) was a little annoying at times. Arthur must have been bada$s back in the day. I've never heard this narrator before. She did a fantastic job. I received this audiobook from Audiobook Boom for my unbiased review.

Excellent horror!

I finished this in 2 days, obviously its engaging. The main character is a bit of a wuss, but he played well off the other strong female lead. I had thought this was more of a horror murder mystery but it was pretty much a horror good vs evil demon in current days story. I loved it. I now must download the second in the series to see what happens next! The narrator was great and was easy to follow! Good, creepy start

I enjoyed it a lot, it was just a shade gorier than I like. Interesting premise though, and I don't remember the last time I read a book with a black heroine. It was different, but in a good way. I liked Hakim more than Abigail I think, and I hope they get closer in the next book because they made a really good team in this one. Can't wait to see what happens next in the series!

Suspenseful Supernatural

I really enjoyed listening to this book and recommend to anyone who enjoys supernatural horror. Loved the characters of Abigail (demon hunter) and Haatim (Blogger who is grieving the death of his sister and trailing Abigail for George and getting info for his page). It is a book of good and evil. Can’t wait to see if Abagail saves Arthur. Narration was good. I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review. Thank you

Raven's Peak

This book is listed as Horror, but I definitely got mostly Urban Fantasy vibes from it. The book starts with a Priest/Preacher being flogged while in prison. Then, he is released due to demonic activity. Arthur is sent to fight a demon in order to save his (sorta) daughter, Abigail. In order to save her, he might have to make the ultimate sacrifice.

Fast forward and we find Abigail being sent to the town of Raven's Peak because of cemonic happenings. Along the way, she save Haatim Arison several and the two team up to save the day!

There was plenty of action, a bit of gore and a few demons in this book. It was fairly well-written and engaging, but it was a bit hard to follow the story at times. The narrator did a good job and added a lot to my listening pleasure. Be warned: this story "ends" on a cliffhanger and it appears that there is at least one more book in the series.
