About this listen

From the scene-stealing star of Pitch Perfect and Bridesmaids comes a refreshingly candid, hilarious and inspiring book about an unconventional journey to Hollywood success and self-celebration.

For decades, Rebel Wilson single-mindedly focused on her career, forgoing relationships in favour of making a name for herself. In her revealing and authentic memoir, Rebel chronicles the emotional and physical lessons she has learned, as well as her most embarrassing experiences. A malaria-induced Oscars hallucination? An all-style martial-arts fighting tournament? Junior handling at dog shows? And this was all before she moved to Hollywood!

Rebel Rising follows Rebel from her Aussie upbringing as the daughter of parents who sold pet products at dog shows, to making millions as LA’s favourite funny girl, always questioning "Am I good enough?”, "Will I ever find love?" and "Will I ever change and become healthy?". Rebel writes for the first time about the most personal and important moments in her life – from fertility issues, weight gain and loss to sexuality, overcoming shyness and dealing with rejection (and there's at least one story thrown in about Brad Pitt!).

This brave and honest memoir shows us how to love ourselves while always remembering the value of laughing.

Rebel Rocks

Very moving and inspirational story. How the cream does rise to the top, in a very false and often fake world of Hollywood. Really is to thy own self be true.

Relatable

Normally you see celebrities lives on social media, here about them in books and or documentaries and enjoy them because who doesn't like admiring the lives of celebrities and wondering what it would be like. with this book Rebel is just so relatable even though she is this super HOTT , super successful , super independent woman. She worked hard for what she wanted. has been through family struggles that us "normal" people go through. Has struggled with her weight as i think more people care to admit.Has experienced loss and pain that is raw and so well expressed , and know that you can love and "hate" someone all at the same time. To come out and say hey I am human and also crave love but love doesn't come easy to everyone, and just because she is this Celebrity this doesn't change it. I am from Cape Town so having South Africa come up in the book it weirdly make me feel more connected to Rebel and her story. I too am Gay and recently married my princess and love is just that love. How, where and with whom doesn't matter. all that matters is that you are lived , your are cherished and you are happy. In a strange way maybe in a different lifetime I would have loved to be friends with Rebel I just think we would have gotten on so well and made the best memories.
Wishing you a lifetime of love and happiness along with success.
