Publisher's summary

Rescue Agent Corbin Granger loves everything to do with the snow. When his career as a professional snow boarder was cut short, he pivoted into a career focused on his second love, animals. He finally got his dream posting in the Alaskan frontier, grateful to return to the glacial home he’s been missing. So when a wildlife biologist comes knocking on his cabin door, it’s the last thing he wants.

Penny Roberts is thrilled to explore the wildlife located on a remote Alaskan mountain. She thinks she’s prepared for anything, but when a massive storm rolls in and separates her from her group, she realizes she’s underestimated the savage land. Her only hope for survival is toughing it out with a handsome loner living in a cabin.

Will Corbin get over his past to make room for a future? Can Penny thaw Corbin’s icy heart? And will they be able to save a pack of orphaned wolf cubs before it’s too late?

Pleasant YA formulaic romance

The narrator’s voice is almost airy and frivolous as we turn away from a Jack London story to an ideal girl getting rescued by an ideal guy in a secluded cabin where only they make the rules. At this point, much censorship is applied and we know only a little of what occurs. They seem nervous about their future together so don’t even exchange phone numbers upon parting. (Skip past brackets for just my judgment )

[partial SPOILER HERE maybe…They meet again weeks later and Penny holds Corbin responsible for not contacting. When Corbin sees the cold-shouldered, ungrateful and grudge holding side of Penny, he thanks God that he didn’t get involved.
JK!
Of course he has to work to win her.
Meanwhile, wolves exhibit weird and unrealistic behavior. ]

Don’t expect any Attenborough imagery, not much author effort is expended on setting or nature immersion.
Absolutely don’t expect any surprises (beyond unnatural wolf behavior) as the story follows formula with just enough character development and God/doG mentions to meet requirements. If this were food, it would be a sugar cookie.
