Publisher's summary

Fresh off of his victory over the galaxy's greatest and most ancient foes, the extra-dimensional dragons, the boy-king Richard is ready for a break. After all, even with cosmic powers that allow him to teleport anywhere in an instant or conjure up objects out of nothing, there's still only so much a fifteen-year-old kid from rural Ohio can take.

Now all he wants to do is enjoy life as the ruler of a galactic empire and spend time with his family, including his mysterious mentor, AAL, humanoid-fox mate, Amber, and their children, the amphibious Andreas, young satyr Zeus, and precocious half-fox twins Kit and Raider.

Unfortunately for Richard, other enemies, such as the power-hungry Spartacus family, wait in the wings. Even worse, tensions between humans and non-humans have reached the boiling point throughout the kingdom, and it won't take much to tip the galaxy into civil war. Richard will soon find that he's sitting on a powder keg—and the fuse is about to run out.

War Erupts is the thrilling fourth volume in the Richard series, a galaxy-spanning coming-of-age epic of romance, action, and adventure.

Action, Romance, and War

Richard has conquered quite a bit considering he is only a very young boy from Ohio! He has experience, a passion for life and his family/friends, and superpowers! He has defeated many foes but now he is faced with the deadliest of all foes – a vicious, power-hungry family that will stop at nothing including war to take over the kingdom and rule the world. Richard must put aside his youthful desires and step into the world of adulthood and make the most painful of all decisions!

The author, Michael W Hickman is a powerful and moving storyteller. This book contains issues that many young adults face as they grow into adulthood – responsibility, emotions, relationships, sacrifices, and growing up. Hickman skillfully touches on each throughout creatively ensuring the listener is fully engaged and immersed in the narrative. His character development is strong and consistent throughout the narrative and series. Each plot twist is well done and keeps the listener on the edge of their chair.

The narrator, Ron Allan Fouts, skillfully brings each character to life with distinct sounds and accents. Further, his rich voice, cadence, and delivery ensure the listener fully experiences the narrative. Ron Allan Fouts truly brings the book to life!
The behind-the-scenes action is interesting as well as vital to the narrative. I have to say, I did not see this coming! I look forward to learning Richard’s fate!
