About this listen

Mobsters can be such drama queens sometimes....

Lennie's got her work cut out for her when the case of a missing brooch leads her straight into the underbelly of Chicago mob. Booze, deceit, threats...why, between the thugs and her overbearing Uncle - remarkably similar - Lennie's got a little too much to handle. Good thing she doesn't have a tendency to fib her way into deeper trouble, just as things are looking their bleakest. Oh wait. She does!

Lennie's on the case.

Lennie Carson is a sassy young sleuth in 1925 Chicago, cracking cases with the help of her ethereal partner, Mr. Parker. But between the pressures of being a reluctant debutante, and having to work for a living to get out from under her Uncle's thumb, Lennie has to be extra clever to help people in need. That, or fudge some facts along the way.

Enjoy!

Great fun! This gum popping flapper has an interactive radio that is endlessly confusing her with his talk of future things that she can't comprehend. Her task is to read the police beat in the morning paper and solve the crime. Her hunt for a stolen brooch takes her to the mob, her spontaneous lie takes her into the soup! It's a great little story very well done. No cliff hanger, but I want to find more!
I entered the giveaway on AudioBookBOOM and won this fun read narrated by Gracia Gillund and I have to say that she had the personas down perfectly.

Risk the Queen

Lennie Carson is on the case to track down a missing broach in 1925 Chicago.

I found this to be an interesting story. I did get a little confused a couple of times, but everything came together for me by the end. An enjoyable listen.

A Fun Fast Moving Mystery

This book was given to me for free at my request and I provided this voluntary review.

A detective story with a fun quirk... The non entity detective that plays his role by communicating via a radio frequency with an unorthodox, sassy, and indomitable girl, will make you smile throughout the telling of this story, fast paced and fun. I'm not sure about the tone the narrator took in representing this character. I wasn't completely sold on it, but I did become more accustomed to it as the story progressed.
A fun read for an afternoon in the sun or while driving home from work.

Quick fun listen

I enjoyed this book, I would have liked the radio to be better explained but other than that the book was interesting and packed with the unexpected.

Leenie is a great lead character, strong and determined, she's going to do what she wants regardless of what her uncle wants.

The narration is well done, good character voices and a natural sounding delivery.

I received a free copy of this book from the author and/or narrator and/or publisher and I voluntarily wrote this honest review.

Risk the Queen

This is a clever and sort of lighthearted whodunit. Lennie is on the trail of a stolen brooch. She is a smart detective, even though she is a girl… Something that is not heard of in 1925.

My favorite line of the story is, "I don't lie, I lied." Lennie will do or say anything she has to to get to the bottom of things.

Gracia Gillund is a wonderful narrator. 4.5 solid stars

FUN

I received a free copy of Risk the Queen a Lennie Carson Mystery by MCM, and narrated by Gracia Gillund in exchange for an unbiased review. This review copy Audio Book was provided by the author/narrator/publisher free of charge via Audio Book Boom.

I found "Risk the Queen" packed full of fun for such a short story. This quick talking, fast moving 20's style P.I. story kept my interest from beginning to end. This is a fun, and entertaining story that I will listen to again. Gracia Gillund did a wonderful job at keeping the story going, and clever with all the many voices.
