About this listen
Discover the time-honored secrets of crafting authentic mezcal right in your own kitchen!
In this busy world, the special touch of handmade spirits often gets lost among mass-produced drinks.
But the unique charm of real mezcal still shines bright for those who love and understand spirits.
Many dream of capturing Oaxacan flavors in homemade mezcal.
Yet its complex rural art seems out of reach, known only to remote areas of Oaxaca.
This leaves eager enthusiasts without the know-how they need to produce this unique beverage.
Here's a fact that shows just how special Oaxaca's mezcal is: more than 90% of the global production of mezcal comes from this Mexican city. Indeed, mezcal is a rare spirit.
For a beginner, mezcal can be tough. Its rich taste and old ways are so overwhelming.
But imagine if you could uncover mezcal’s secrets easily, grasping its magic enough to make it at home.
Inside, you will discover:
• Why finding the perfect agave is key, and how where it grows affects the eventual flavor–choose your agave wisely for the best mezcal
• A clear breakdown of traditional Oaxacan production methods blended with handy tips for home-brewing novices
• Expert advice on pairing mezcal with typical local dishes, with recipes and pointers to heighten both your food and drink

We live in a world of seeds. From our morning toast to the cotton in our clothes, they are quite literally the stuff and staff of life, supporting diets, economies, and civilizations around the globe. Just as the search for nutmeg and the humble peppercorn drove the Age of Discovery, so did coffee beans help fuel the Enlightenment and cottonseed help spark the Industrial Revolution. And from the fall of Rome to the Arab Spring, the fate of nations continues to hinge on the seeds of a Middle Eastern grass known as wheat.

Beginner friendly!
Agave is abundant in our place and I've been thinking of ways how to process them so it won't go to waste. Luckily, I've found this audiobook! Indeed, learning how to make mezcal is overwhelming but this audiobook guided me throughout. I've learned also that not all agave is usable and I must find the perfect agave for it. What a useful information! I'm excited to try mezcal making!

This was a sheer joy!
I really enjoyed listening to this.
From the rugged history of mezcal, to the fine distinctions between agave spirits, to the practical how-to on making mezcal, this audiobook was super interesting. The author wove in quite a bit of dry wit, which made me laugh out loud sometimes.
