About this listen

Fourteen-year-old Ronan Boyle is the youngest and lowliest recruit to the secret Garda, an Irish police force that handles the misdeeds of numerous magical creatures. Ronan's parents are in jail, but Ronan is convinced they were framed by the wee people. So, despite his small size, poor eyesight, and social awkwardness, he's determined to learn all he can in the Garda in order to prove his parents' innocence.

To show he's got what it takes, he'll have to confront a fiery leprechaun, a sinister harpy, and a whole world of monsters hidden in plain sight next to real-life Ireland.

Fast-paced, action-packed, and completely hilarious, this is the start to an exciting new middle-grade series by actor and writer Thomas Lennon.

Very Entertaining!

I enjoyed the story and loved the narration, as well as the songs at the end. Thomas Lennon does a great Irish accent and his character voices are varied and fun. The novel is extremely entertaining and packs a lot of energy and adventure in the storyline. Characters are outrageous and laughable, and in a story like this, they perfectly fit. The thorough descriptions of events and the many similes made me laugh out loud. -Looking forward to the next book... Give it a try - you'll want to listen to the whole thing! I sure did. Lisa

A fun interesting detective story

There was some fun Irish folklore sprinkled in seamlessly with a silly detective story about fairy folk. Adults could find some interesting humor in here as well as kids. It's well read by the author.

Excellent light fun listening

Tom Lennon is fantasticly funny. I've been a fan for years and this book did not disappoint. I'm always a fan of a book that's not afraid to use the line "the very ugly baby". light and fun, this book is a great way to fill a few hours

The most fun I've had listening to an audio book!

This book is highly amusing and creative, and I could read/listen to it multiple times without getting bored. The only negative I have is that the music between the chapters is quite a bit louder than the reading. Can't wait for the rest of the series!

Thomas Lennon is so delightful

as a fan of Thomas Lennon since his days in the state on MTV I have always found him to be absolutely delightful and Incredibly witty. This book is no exception. Fans of current pop culture who also love Magic and mystery will find this to be very clever and entertaining book. Lennon performance reminds me of Jim Dale's in the Harry Potter series. He's very diverse and Incredibly gifted at differentiating each character and giving them all life in a very heartfelt way.

great fun

Original story, humor that suits the story, and a cliffhanger. Which isn't as bad as it sounds because it is a fun ride. A blend of Mythology, mystery, & unpredictability.

if you have to put it in a category, call it Police Academy meets Irish folklore. Don't expect any cute fairies or whimsical unicorns. It's more like real life with killer pickles.

if anybody tells you it's YA, just shush them and push them out of the way. I'm looking forward to the next installment.

Fast paced, funny and thoroughly entertaining

This was such an unusual and entertaining romp through the Irish countryside, that I had to find excuses to keep listening and was so sorry to see it end.......WHICH IT DIDN'T! Why is it that every time I get a really good book it ends in a cliff hanger? And of course, the sequel is not there?..... Bummer.
