About this listen

In this collection of six witty short stories, the courageous and corpulent barrister, Horace Rumpole, takes on both animal and human rights. And for the first time, Rumpole’s formidable wife, Hilda—better known as She Who Must Be Obeyed—tells a story of her own.

Patrick Tull narrates five of the six tales,

doing a very good job as the voice of Rumpole. Jill Tanner provides an enjoyable reading of "Hilda's Story" - told from the point-of-view of She Who Must Be Obeyed, though I thought she sounded a bit young.
