About this listen

When terrorists crashed a plane into the Pentagon, he was there, helping carry the wounded to safety. And he's been there, leading the war on terror, directing its operations around the world in both open and covert missions, and bluntly focusing on one primary goal: killing terrorists. He is Donald Rumsfeld. His great fear was a second Pearl Harbor. When it happened on September 11, 2001, he led the charge to make sure it never happens again.

This book takes you inside Rumsfeld's Pentagon, detailing the far-sighted, courageous decisions he has made to enable our military to fight this most unconventional of wars. Rowan Scarborough shows not only how Rumsfeld is fighting the war, but how he is fighting the bureaucracy and remaking the American military, shifting the focus from the ingrained "can't-do" bureaucracy to the special operations Green Berets, SEALs, and others who live by "can-do".

A travesty that trees were cut to print this....

...or that someone would ever have to listen through this blatant distortion of the motivations and actions of Mr. Rumsfeld. Where is the documented disregard to warnings about an emminent attack? And since when would the secret service allow such a highly placed member of the presidential cabinet to leap in to potential harm to rescue office clerks? This is an embellished, if not partially fabricated retelling of history through some seriously misplaced idolation of man who, as part of Bush's regime, has helped plunge America in to the darkest of times. Darker perhaps than the great depression...

rumsfeld's war

The examinations of the failures of planning in Afghanistan and Iraq, make this account somewhat "just another piece of myth and propaganda". Many of my fellow officers are sickened by this piece of fiction, he has never served and has little understanding though we will admit he is a zealot.

Great book, great man!

The facts are that if american had actually done ANYTHING to try and stop Osama and the Taliban in Afghanistan then there never would have been a 9/11. Instead we just kept taking the hits and looking like a paper tiger. In the book we learn the truth about what really happened and why. The fact that american sat idly by and let her servicemen and women die in suicide bombings and did nothing but 'investigate' is the true legacy of the 90's and the clinton mis-administration. Read this book and learn!
