About this listen
Make no mistake; this is no "SEO for dummies". Rather, SEO Like I'm 5 is the ultimate beginner's training system for forward-thinking businesses and entrepreneurs that will get you found on Google, social media, and blogs.
You will also learn how to attract followers and leads like a magnet by building a vibrant community around your content, which both users and search engines will love, and leveraging untapped, high-growth platforms and social networks.
In addition to taking you through the strategic process of building and optimizing your online presence, SEO Like I'm 5 features hundreds of free tools, "under-the-hood" hacks, case studies, examples, and actionable tips.
Why read this book?
There is an overload of information on the topic of SEO on the Web, most of it misguided or outdated, coming from self-proclaimed gurus.
Contrary to common knowledge, the "art of SEO" is not defined by your ability to write code or hack Google's algorithm.

Story
Plenty of experts argue that anyone who wants to develop a skill, play an instrument, or lead their field should start early, focus intensely, and rack up as many hours of deliberate practice as possible. But a closer look at research on the world’s top performers shows that early specialization is the exception, not the rule. David Epstein examined the world’s most successful athletes, artists, musicians, inventors, forecasters and scientists. He discovered that in most fields—especially those that are complex and unpredictable—generalists, not specialists, are primed to excel.

Chris Dreyer didn’t begin his professional journey thinking he would establish one of the most successful SEO agencies in the country. In fact, he studied history in college and landed his first job as a detention room supervisor for a local high school (this wasn’t part of the plan, either). When his Google query, “how to make money online,” directed him to digital marketing courses, Chris found his calling. Soon his own sites ranked number one for “double chin,” “stained concrete,” and “acai fruit.” The rest, as they say, is history.

Story
On May 31, 2014, in the Milwaukee suburb of Waukesha, Wisconsin, two 12-year-old girls attempted to stab their classmate to death. Morgan Geyser and Anissa Weier’s violence was extreme, but what seemed even more frightening was that they committed their crime under the influence of a figure born by the internet: the so-called “Slenderman”. Yet the even more urgent aspect of the story, that the children involved suffered from undiagnosed mental illnesses, often went overlooked in coverage of the case.

Artificial intelligence does the seemingly impossible - driving cars, trading stocks, and teaching children. But facing the sea change that AI will bring can be paralyzing. How should companies set strategies, governments design policies, and people plan their lives for a world so different from what we know? In Prediction Machines, three eminent economists recast the rise of AI as a drop in the cost of prediction. With this single, masterful stroke, they lift the curtain on the AI-is-magic hype and show how basic tools from economics provide clarity about the AI revolution and a basis for action by CEOs, managers, policy makers, investors, and entrepreneurs.

In Glow Kids, Dr. Nicholas Kardaras will examine how technology - more specifically, age-inappropriate screen tech, with all of its glowing ubiquity - has profoundly affected the brains of an entire generation. Brain imaging research is showing that stimulating glowing screens are as dopaminergic (dopamine activating) to the brain’s pleasure center as sex. And a growing mountain of clinical research correlates screen tech with disorders like ADHD, addiction, anxiety, depression, increased aggression, and even psychosis.

This is NOT a Book for SEO Consultants or Agencies
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Not just a friend, but to all the "Big Name" Advertising Agencies, as an SEO and Web Analyst I've encountered many people who are stuck in 2011, trying to get metakeywords, buying 5 dollars links on Fiverr and focusing on design more than on content and the user.
This is a book for Entrepreneurs, Wantrepreneurs, Dreamtrepreneurs and anyone who has the courage to get their hands dirty. You could know nothing of SEO and have a working platform by the time you finish listening.
What was one of the most memorable moments of SEO Like I'm 5?
The 10 Habits of a Rock Star Blogger.
Which character – as performed by Andrew J Mason – was your favorite?
There's a part in the book where Matthew Capala says the audiobook version is coming and Andrew J Mason replies, the line is delivered in such a way that you know that Mason had a BLAST recording this and it shows.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
No, because every chapter I wanted to stop and apply the things learned from it.
Any additional comments?
The SEO is just the hook, a Holistic approach to internet marketing is the real takeaway you get when listening

I have read/listened to a lot of books on social media marketing, content marketing etc. I didn't knew much about SEO though, this book gives a great overview of SEO, recommends strategies and tools as well as putting into the content marketing context.

This is a little bit more than just for beginners
A must read for anyone wanting to know more about SEO. Even if it's just a resource guide, this is worth the buy. Now I have buckets of websites and services to research. I'll have to listen to this at least 2 more times to get everything. Wonderful book
