About this listen
This book contains the transliteration and meaning of Surya Chalisa, Surya Aarti, Surya Mantras, Aditya Hrudhayam Mantra, Surya Namaskar, Ādityahṛdayam, and Surya Vrat Katha in both Hindi and English. As per Vedic astrology, the Sun represents the soul, vitality, courage, willpower, authority, and royalty, among other things, but Surya Dev is considered slightly volatile in the horoscope due to its inherent characteristics of being overly radiant and emitting excessive heat.
The book provides some easy ways to energize the Sun and ways to lessen the impact of the Sun transitioning malefic in your horoscope. We hope that the information in this book is helpful to anyone seeking Surya Dev's blessings. This book is written as a humble endeavor to provide solace to folks suffering from inauspicious planetary transitions in their horoscope. We hope the reader will rapidly progress in material comforts, education, and economic development by implementing the suggested corrective measures.
According to the Vedas, Surya Dev is the creator of the material universe. He is one of several trinities, along with Agni and either Vayu or Indra, representing an equivalent aspect of the Sanatana Dharma's metaphysical concept known as the Brahman (the highest universal principle). During the medieval period, Surya Dev was worshiped alongside Brahma during the day, Shiva at noon, and Vishnu at night.
Since time immemorial, the Sun has been considered a quintessential part of the Navagraha, or the nine celestial bodies that govern the Vedic astrological calculations and interpretations. Vedanga Jyotisha (dated 1400-1200 BCE) is regarded as one of India's earliest works on astrology. The concept and science around the Navagraha evolved over time. The Yavanajataka, or 'Science of the Yavanas,' was written by the Indo-Greek named "Yavanesvara" ("Lord of the Greeks") under the rule of the Western Kshatrapa King Rudrakarman I. This was written in 120 BCE and is often credited to standardizing the concepts in ancient Indian astrology. The study and knowledge about the Navagraha were further enriched by additional contributions from Western Asia, including Zoroastrian and Hellenistic influences.
Surya Dev and lord Shiva were also the primary deities revered by the protagonists of the Mahabharata and Ramayana. Surya Dev is portrayed as Rama and Karna's spiritual father in the Mahabharata and Ramayana. Surya Dev also appears as a deity in Buddhist and Jain arts and literature. Surya or Ravi is the Hindu calendar's basis for Ravivara or Sunday. Makar Sankranti, Pongal, Samba Dashami, Ratha Saptami, Chath puja, and Kumbha Mela are major Surya Dev’s festivals and pilgrimages. Despite having survived as a primary deity in Hinduism longer than most original Vedic Gods, Surya Dev's worship declined significantly around the 13th century, possibly due to the destruction of Sun temples in India by foreign invaders.
