About this listen

As an elite Sacrati fighter in the mighty Torian military, Theos is blessed with a city full of women who want to bear his children, and a barracks full of men proud to fight at his side and share his bed. He has everything he needs - until he captures Finnvid on a raid.

Finnvid is on a secret mission to prevent the Torian invasion of his homeland Elkat. Being enslaved by Torian soldiers wasn't in his plans. Neither is his horrified fascination with the casual promiscuity of the Sacrati warriors. Men should not lie with other men - and he should not be so intrigued when they do. He definitely should not be most intrigued by the leader of the soldiers who captured him and plan to invade his home.

For Theos, everything would have been easier if the infuriating, lying, bewildering Elkati had never come into his life, but he can't stay away. When betrayal and treachery threaten both their nations, they must work together to stop a war that could destroy their homes forever - even as they begin to question everything they're fighting for.

Enjoyable story. Fun listen.

There was a decent story line that attempted to address the concepts of an open relationship vs a monogamist relationship as well as the role of bisexuality. The story has a nice flow and I found it hard to stop reading.

fantasy - not enough sex

i enjoyed the fantasy and other world aspect of the story. but it droned on a bit. and there definitely was not enough sex. I would recommend this book -- but don't expect a lot of action.

Epic adventure with stellar story telling

Where does Sacrati rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Close to the top

What was one of the most memorable moments of Sacrati?

I love the whole book, honestly. But I especially loved when Theos finally loved and understood Finnvid enough to accept his way of life and stop his "playing" with everyone else.

Have you listened to any of Dorian Bane’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

First by this narrator

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No, way too long. And I like to savor them anyway.

Any additional comments?

I either love or hate audio books. I really do not seem to have a grey area, so if I recommend one, then trust when I say you will enjoy the performance. Even though this one went a little different than I expected, it was still a wonderful audio and one that I think you will love too.

• Well paced intriguing plot, the characters are well developed and have a slow steady build to their relationship.
• The world building was fantastic!
• Dorian Bane captured the essence of the characters personalities and the 'feel' of the period brilliantly.

Awesome story and narration

What an AMAZING listen!! To say I loved this book would be a huge understatement. First off, this book's premise is inspired by the Sacred Band of Thebes. If you don't know what that is, Google it, it is worth it. It is an enemies to lovers story that has so many twists and turns, I frequently kept thinking to myself "how is she (the author) going to get out of this mess." I need not have worried, she did it masterfully. Theos is a Sacrati warrior that captures Finnvid, a spy from a neighboring land. What Theos thought would just be a routine prisoner transfer ushers him into a ton of international intrigue, tragedy and the loss of his very controlled life. On the up side, he also got a love like he never imagined he would have. Both Theos' and Finnvid's worlds get turned on their heads. And what a world it is it, the world building is fantastic. But by far, the best part for me was the wonderful witty dialogue Kate Sherwood weaves into Theos's and Finnvid's conversations. Since they come from different cultures, miscommunication is always an issue. But sometimes it is hilarious. Two words, "victory f**king"!! Not what you think it is.

The narrator is new to me, but he really hit a home run with this book. I was captivated by his telling of this tale. His voices were distinct and he gave them wonderful British accents. He was so captivating, I stayed up until 3 a.m. so I could finish it, when I started at 6 pm. Only stopping to throw some takeout to the kids. I am begging Kate Sherwood to continue this adventure with other books. Highly recommended.

Enemies to Lovers Fantasy Romance, Fantastic!

If you could sum up Sacrati in three words, what would they be?

Intrigue
Opposites
Enemies

What did you like best about this story?

I loved the characters, but I also liked the world the author created. It slowed the pacing on the book, but I had a clear picture of character development and the world the characters lived in.

Which character – as performed by Dorian Bane – was your favorite?

Now that's tough. I found most characters engaging and well acted. I guess I'll say Theo's close battle buddy Andros. He cracked me up and I thought Dorian Bane captured the essence of his characters so well.

If you could rename Sacrati, what would you call it?

Seeing the World Through His Eyes

Any additional comments?

This story is full of intrigue, betrayal, character and relationship developments, and meticulous world building. It has action and passion scenes along with contemplate ones. The reader need not be uneasy about the Master/slave part as its not exploited.

This is great for those who enjoy Roman Empire or Greek Spartan type stories.

My thanks to Riptide Publishing for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review.

Much better than I expected. Good story

Excellent narrator (give him a chapter to warm), fun story line, main characters relationship builds very slowly (a good thing), gives you more time to get to know all the other colorful and fun characters.

Entrancing

Thoroughly enjoyed this book! Loved the storyline and the characters. As I listened, I got so wrapped into the story that time just flew by. Theos and Finnvid were destined to be together.
