About this listen
Joining us at the Audible Studios is Samuel West, English actor, theatre director and voice actor of over 70 audiobooks.
Samuel narrates the 1990 Booker Prize winner, Possession by A. S. Byatt, an exhilarating novel of wit and romance. It is the tale of a pair of young scholars researching the lives of two Victorian poets, uncovering their letters, journals, and poems, tracking their movements from London to Yorkshire, showing an extraordinary counterpoint of passions and ideas.
In this interview, Samuel tells us about Possession, what he likes about narrating, what it was like growing up in a family of actors and what he’s working on next.

One of my favorite audio readers
A great interview with a great reader of audiobooks, although in spite of the closing comment, POSSESSION by A.S. Byatt read by Samuel West is NOT available on Audible US to listen to (though it is on Audible UK). If only those copyrights would relax a bit more in favor of transatlantic flexibility. I saw a note from a UK listener who wanted to hear more novels by the American Ross Macdonald but was unable due to restrictions (they are mostly all here at Audible US), and I would love to hear more Dick Francis and some Karin Fossum and more books read by West and David Rintoul, etc. (but those are Audible UK-only titles). The West interview has great behind-the-scene's information, the highlight being the housepainter's comment!
