Gideon is the lead commander over the Lord's armies. His skills and kills are legendary across the heavens. However, his heart is starting to grow cold toward the Lord and everyone else! This greatly concerns the Lord, so he has Gideon reassigned to a guardianship over a little girl named Charlotte who Gideon will nickname Charlie. The plan is while watching Charlie grow, the heart of this battle worn warrior will learn how to love again.

A story of conformation

The story is great, with an interesting main character, and has a bit of a "chick-lit" vibe to it with all the clothing and interior decor details. There was a fight with demons and the author did just okay with that action scene. Not too much action was detailed, but there was more describing the main character and opponents so the reader could get a good visual.
The sections of the book that use the main story to divert into an opportunity to "Save" the reader could be entirely edited out and the book would only get better. I have gotten halfway into this book and I don't think I can endure another bout of proselytizing by the author. The last bout of it took about 15 or minutes out of the main story and I listened to all of it, wanting to pick up the story where it left off. I don't want to do that again and am already halfway through the book and am ready to bail, but want to warn others first.
Yes, the proselytizing is thinly disguised as part of the story, but it's still too obvious and distracting. Buyers should know this is Christian fiction before investing their time and money.
If you enjoy having people knock on your door and try to "Save" you to what they believe, then you won't mind this book at all.
I really enjoyed this narrator in the last series of books I listened to on Audible, and found this book via the narrator's listing of other books. And, the narrator again did a fantastic job. But, I don't plan on wasting any more time on this book and will return it, unfinished, and will never know what the second half of the story held. Too bad.
Heavy-handed proselytizing interrupts great story
