Publisher's summary

Thomas lives virtually alone in his house in Pennsylvania, with only his cousin to look after him. His legs were damaged in a railway accident and the only way he can get around his house is by crawling, or by means of an awkward chaise lounge prototype wheelchair that his cousin pushes. He loses his faith and reads only controversial books.

His neighbors threaten to boot him out and he hasn’t been in the company of a lady for a long time. One day, Thomas’ cousin puts an ad in for a mail order bride and to Thomas’ utter surprise, one shows up from California a few weeks later. He is stunned, as is she, when they both learn about the deception. Thomas thinks the woman will despise him because of his crippled legs, while she, on the other hand, believes the same thing about her own physical disability.

I loved this story! :-)

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I would highly recommend this audiobook because it's such an encouraging example of God's love for His children.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Saving Lonely Crippled Thomas?

I especially liked the way Thomas proposed to Mary :-)

Have you listened to any of Joe Smith’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I have listened to many of Mr. Smith's performances. This one ranks at the very top! The timbre and inflection of his reading portray the very essence of this story and its many lessons to learn from the Bible. One of the most important things we need to remember is that we need each other, no matter how isolated we are and think we want to remain. Behind Mr. Smith's words is the reminder from God that satan is a liar and his path of 'comforts' is very slippery. Being out of sync with God is a sure-fire way to destruction by slipping into worldly ideas that are not of God.

Any additional comments?

Even though the characters in this story are flawed, by having such flaws, they are drawn closer to God and to each other which brings fellowship with God. At the time of trials, no one ever wants to go through them. If only we could realize that such trials bring us closer to God :-)

Great Romantic Story

I was kind of on the fence about listening to this story, but once it started, I was hooked. Both characters were apprehensive about their disabilities, and were either angry or shy due to their disability. This audio book was truly a sweet Christian Romance and I would recommend it to anyone who still believes in love.
