Table of Contents

This collection contains the following stories:

"Holocaust" by Charles Willard Diffin.
"Lord of Space" by Victor Rousseau
"The Meteor Girl" by Jack Williamson
"Second Variety" by Philip K Dick

Of these "Second Variety is by far the best. It's an intense and creepy tale of war, paranoia, and poorly-programmed robots. "The Meteor Girl" is the second best, a charming story of super-science, time paradoxes, and rescue on the high seas.

"Holocaust" is more interesting for its historical context than its plot. It was written in 1931 involves an invasion of the USA by the USSR, which is aided by a misguided mad scientist. It's a great window into the political mindset of 1930s America.

"Lord of Space" is a fairly unremarkable space adventure story. It's definitely the weakest story of the lot.
