A good stand alone story with a lead-in to series

My first book by Shaun Stevenson and I am really glad I did. The primary characters are kids so this would probably fall into the young adult category. I found it to be a good story for me as well. Don't know anything about the author but this story definitely is Christian based with many references to the Bible. I thought they did a good job integrating it into the story without being preachy.
LC Kane did an excellent job narrating this story and I will look forward to hearing more from her.

Fantastic...

The story was phenomenal, entertaining from the start to the finish. Reading the story is one thing, but having a wonderful audio book is the closest thing to reliving reading the book for the first time, with an amazing performance.

Good start to a religious-themed series

I was given this free review copy audio book at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

This is a religious-themed fantasy story about some orphans on the run and was full of high adventure. It was well paced and entertaining. I thought the narrator did a great job too. Worth a credit if you're looking for something a bit different.

Good Book

Decent story, good setting and likable characters. Narrator did a really good job. Was definitely a YA book, but good nonetheless.

"Solid Fiction with Very Good Narration"

Where does Secret of the Lost King rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

I very much liked the characters and the plot was engaging. I will likely read more of this series if they're available. The writer uses interesting language choices as well - very vivid descriptions. The narrator is very good - personal preference but I liked listening to this at 0.85x speed though.

Any additional comments?

Good YA story

This book held my interest but it was a little drawn out. I would recommend this book for Middle school ages.
LC Kane did a fine job with the narration.

This was a promotional copy and this review is my personal opinion.

Fantastic!!!

I received this book from Audioboom for a completely unbiased review.

Wow! What a refreshingly original story. The Biblical references and underlying moral tone was as unexpected as it fantastic. I loved it from the start, and can’t wait to listen to the next in the series.

The narrator was great also. Very well spoken, and her characters very distinctive. I couldn’t imagine this story told by anyone else.
It was a pleasure to listen to.

Thanks

A pleasant surprise

This is a Christian based story of 3 orphans running for their lives, not understanding why the emperor wants them or why the guards are chasing them. I found the story to be unique, interesting, mysterious, adventurous, and one I kept thinking about after having to pause the book for a bit. To be totally honest I kept mentally comparing the story to the Chronicles of Narnia and how well the story blended Christianity with the story theme. Well done! The story is for adults, YA, and teens. The narrator did a fantastic job with providing individual character voices and reading fluidly.

Wonderful Religious Themed Fantasy

My 14 year old helped me read and review this book. He really liked the story. It is about two 13-year-olds Molly and Jack, and Jack's sister Ellie who is 9. The Emperor's guards try to capture the kids and they escape and are put on a quest to find the lost king while being hunted by the most feared bounty hunter in the land. It's a story that grabs you pretty quickly and is increasingly more difficult to put down the farther in you get. This is a pretty religious/Christian based story with a lot of Bible references and "Follow God" which is fine but in a few spots became a little too repetitive. LC Kane does an incredible job with the acting and narration of this story and makes it even more entertaining to listen to.

Should've been shorter.

I received this audiobook for free from the author / narrator / publisher, in exchange for an unbiased review.

This is less of a sci-fi and more of a fantasy story. In fact, I wouldn't call it sci-fi at all. Dunno why Audible has classified it as such. This is also more of a YA story, with religious overtones. Thankfully the religious aspect doesn't overshadow it. I believe young readers will find this to be a moderately entertaining and a good start to a series.

For me personally though, I found that it lacked interesting content for large chunks of its duration, which was filled with fluff; their only purpose being increasing the length of the book. imo, there are several scenes in there which should've been cut at editing table. The story would've been more tight knit, compact and interesting.

The narrator did a good job and gave different vocals to different characters. Voice inflictions were good.
