Critic reviews
"The reading world would be a happier place if more paranormal romance writers wrote as well as Krinard." (Contra Costa Sunday Times)
"A master of atmosphere and description." (Library Journal)
I really don't know what to say about this to sum up my thoughts on it but here goes:- it starts off well, Quentin is found face down drunk at the side of the road and is found by Johanna and is taken to her sanctuary (asylum) where she is treating people who are mentally 'different'. There we meet some interesting and funny inpatients who all have their own stories, quirks and needs.
Quentin thinks his only problems are drink, he blanks out and that he is a werewolf - but it turns out that he is so wrong. There's instant attraction between the two but sadly not enough interaction which leads to avoidance and denial for most of the book. Also, there's so many secondary plots, sub plots and subhuman plots going on that this becomes more of a mystery book than a romance. There was one 'joining' (not explicit) which was originally started by Johanna and carried out to stop something evil happening rather than a passionate or romantic moment,
Worth a credit? Don't get me wrong - there was intrigue, surprises, interesting characters and a well written plot that was filled with compassion but unfortunately it didn't have the sex, romance, passion or love, that I personally enjoy, until the final few chapters. So (for me) it's a NO - it wasn't worth my credit
Not a typical sexy Alpha tale (grrrr what a shame)
