Publisher's summary

He broke the code.
Prom Night my brother’s best friend took my innocence then ditched me.

He was six years older and my secret crush.
We did the deed, but he didn’t expect to fall in love.
Terrified of my brother, he took off, so I never knew the truth.

Years later, I hunt him down, pretending to break into his skyscraper.
Forced to face his symphony of mistakes, he confesses his feelings.

While hell hath no fury like a woman scorned, I’d changed, but he was still under my spell.
I hated him for leaving, but the longer we were together, the less he wanted to leave my side
And now I’m falling for him.

The code forbids us from having a relationship. Screw the code; after marrying in a fake Vegas ceremony, my secrets and lies are surfacing. He suspects we have a child.

If I don’t confess and he finds out, I’ll risk losing him forever.

Confusing

This was my first Neve Star's book. The story has potential, but it was a little hard to follow. The storyline is filled with drama, secrets, and twists and turns. Louise Cooksey as a good voice, but the characters weren't easy to distinguish. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

My first crush was my one-night stand

I found myself laughing when listening to the first chapter. The author's descriptions of the situations enabled me to visualize what was occurring without difficulty. Stacy once spent her prom with her brother's best friend, Bill. Now they meet again but he has no idea who she is. This story kept my attention all the way to the end.

Stacy and Bill

Secrets of a Billionaire Mind is an older brothers' best friend throw in a secret baby and a slowish burn and you get a great story with characters who secretly have loved each other for years. Things get interesting when Stacy walks in on Bill in a compromising situation.

Billionaire

the story was okay, so Stacy secretly knows who bill is and they bump into each other and get invited to go to Vegas with her brother. Stacy and bill know each other from when they were younger, took her to prom slept with then left. Bill ends up getting sick and Stacy takes care of him once he is feeling better, they sleep together and almost immediately he says he in love with her that part gave me the ick he didn't even know who she was. but it got better I'd give a true rating around 3.75.

Secrets

I found this very confusing and very hard to follow. Stacy had her heart broken when she was 18 by Bill and 8 years later “accidentally” ran into each other. Only Bill doesn’t realize who Stacy really is.

There are way too many secrets being kept, and both Stacy and Bill are acting immature. There is too much back and forth and way too much whining on both parties. Ended too abruptly for me.

Secrets of a Billionaire Mind!

I wanted to like this story but I think what made it bad was the narration. It might have been better to have a man narrate for the male character. The narrator did a horrible job making his parts painful to listen to. The story is a little confusing with some factual discrepancies and jumbled written. The story is about Stacey, a nurse, and Bill, a wealthy man and her brother's bet friend. Bill was also her prom date, first and long time love. They haven't seen each other in years and she breaks into his office? Why was a bit jumbled. The story does end abruptly as well. So this was an okay story that might have been better reading instead of listening to.

A Fun, Entertaining Read

Thank you to Neve Star for allowing me to listen to a copy of this book. I enjoyed my experience while listening to this book. But this book also fell a little bit flat for me. I wish we got more flashbacks to Becky's and Bill's history and all of the beef and drama between them. It was a quick, fun read, but it wasn't for me. I felt like it was just missing a little something something to make it better for me.

Confused and Confusing Hot Mess

I've listened to hundreds of audiobooks and read thousands of books over my life, and I think this has to be the singularly most confused and confusing, poorly written book I've ever had the misfortune to read! As the book opens, it's not quite clear whether what's happening is real or some sort of strange dream. The way the characters treat each other is bizarre, just not the way we do. The characters’ rationale is unclear for far too long. The book jumps all over the place in both time and space. For instance, the group seems to go from driving around in the limousine to the female protagonist alone with the male protagonist in a hotel room--and he isn't feeling well. Why exactly he isn't feeling well was skirted around. Apparently, he has some sort of congenital condition that's killing him, but this wasn't really explained. I was surprised to see the couple get so physical when he supposedly felt so poorly. Then things jump again as this couple marries quickly when the other couple with them does. Another thing that annoyed me was that the heroine is supposedly a nurse, yet she can take somebody's blood pressure by feeling their pulse! I'm actually an RN, and that just isn't possible! You need a blood pressure cuff to get a blood pressure reading. Fingers on an artery will only net you the pulse!

The chirpy female narrator only added to the poor experience of this book. She narrates both the female as well as the male chapters. I've listened to many single-gender-narrated books, and they can be quite well done. Typically, the man or woman moderates his or her voice to give the impression of the other gender when needed. The narrator was too perky for both the main characters. The female protagonist is a nurse, as I stated earlier, and I've never met a single nurse that sounded as breathy and witless as this one sounds! Worse, though, is her voicing for the hero. When not speaking dialogue, she makes this grumpy hero sound far too chipper, like a cheerleader on steroids at times. When she tries to mimic a more masculine, modulated tone for him in dialogue--I can't even describe how bad it is! One thing she did, and it actually made me laugh out loud, is that when the author--I believe--states the hero grunts, the narrator actually makes grunting sounds like a pig! Sometimes I think I just kept listening to this book to see how much more of a train wreck it could become! Not good!

So many wonderful audiobooks and regular romance books are out there; I recommend finding a better one than this hot mess.
