About this listen

Amina “Mimi” Washington was born in poverty and raised on the south side of New Orleans to parents who were not capable of raising a child. From a very young age, she has had to fend for herself.

Young Mimi wants more out of life, and she wants a way out of the ghetto. Fate intervenes on her behalf when she meets one of New Orleans’ biggest dope boys. When she falls in love with the mysterious stranger, everything in her life changes for the better and her future seems brighter. She will soon learn, however, that being a hustler’s wife comes with serious consequences.

Mimi decides to move to Atlanta, where she has it all: a beautiful family, fast cars, the finest clothes, and everything that she’s ever dreamed about. How can a woman who has so much going for herself be so unhappy? With a man who’s constantly cheating and her past rapidly catching up to her, she must figure out a way to get all those secrets out in the open - without taking a loss.

Take a ride on this roller coaster with Amina Washington and uncover the Secrets of a Kept Chick.

It was an okay story. Like everyone else I read the reviews, but still wanted to read the book. The pausing in the reading was annoying. Sometimes so long I thought it stopped playing. The narrator voice was different than what were use to hearing I guess. The storyline was okay. I’m going to listen to the second just because I still want to know what happens when they find out , and if anything else happens who ol’ boy.

Borderline

The book was all over the place yet still interesting to me! Ready to see what happens in book two

Drama at it’s finest

I’m not sure if it was my internet (which I doubt it was) or what, but there were way too many pauses in between the words. It’s like she didn’t practice reading the book before it was recorded and the book just sounds extremely choppy. It was irritating listening to it.. but I pushed through..

Good story, can’t get past the performance.

This book was pretty good is definitely a page turner the long pluses that the narrator was doing was driving me nuts she’s known me a decent narrator and I don’t know what happen with this book but I am going to still read book 2

I normally like this narrator

If you're able to push through the random narration pauses and the narrator's style and tone; both do get better as the story progresses... The storyline was decent.

Decent story... Horrible narration

I’m not even done with the book but the writer just keeps surprising me! Ok so the narrator pauses a lot but that doesn’t affect the story and her voice…. I freaking love it. Can’t wait to read part 2!
