Dwayne set out to make his dreams come true in the place he often dreamed about as a child. Leaving his small New England town, his journey begins in the spring of 1980, just after the San Fran Psycho years and before the AIDS crisis. With a little bit of money, a lot of determination, and a little defiance he sets off on his own to make his dreams come true.

He swiftly finds his footing and wastes no time indulging in his identity as a single, gay black man in San Francisco. Ready to live his life on his own terms he navigates city life, and it’s cast of characters, leading to more than a few interesting encounters and misadventures. While trying new things without regret, forming bonds and friendships, and of course some sexual exploration, Dwayne finds himself in the city of his dreams and it does not disappoint.

But all is not sunshine and rainbows as his glittering city begins to succumb to the ravishes of the AIDS epidemic. Realizing tomorrow is not promised, he learns to double down on living life.
