About this listen

Jack Bryant left the Special Forces to begin his private investigation business. Pulling together like-minded men from the CIA, FBI, ATF, DEA, Border Patrol, SEALs, and police, they were devoted to the missions that no one else wanted or could solve.

When the campus killer strikes again, Jack's team is tasked by the governor to find the killer, using whatever means they can.

While following the trail of the serial killer, he becomes entangled in the life of the beautiful woman living next to his property.

Bethany Bridwell moved in with her grandmother to take over running Mountville Cabin Rentals. She had no time for the handsome, mysterious man living next door who continued to intrude into her life...and her thoughts.

Jack battled his growing feelings for Bethany, worried his life would not allow for the white-picket-fence world she deserved. But he was unable to stay away.

When the trail of the campus killer strikes close to home, can Jack protect Bethany long enough to give her what she needs?

Due to scenes of an explicit sexual nature and language that some consider crude, please be warned - for 18+ only. If you do not like alphas with heart who fall instantly in love with strong female characters while dealing with real life issues...again be warned.

Could have been better. Terrible narration..

The chances of me EVER reading or listening to this author again are NONE. I hate authors who refer to a woman’s body part as a pu@#y, used 17 times. I know a lot of you like that word but I’m not one of them. That wasn’t the worst thing said but I can’t write that, but it was even more disgusting. ((And when she told Jack to spank her if I hadn’t been at 86% I would have definitely quite reading. I was skimming, skimming, skimming through the sex scene when I came across that. UGH!))

It was also ridiculous how often the F-BOMB was used at inappropriate times when aimed at Bethany. Like telling her she was “Effing (not the real word) beautiful.” Really? He couldn’t have just told her she was “beautiful?” It was like the author just HAD to use that word no matter how or when. And he called her “beautiful” 76 times. WTH was wrong with her name once in a while; I don’t think he EVER said her name in the whole book. He also called her “babe or baby” 64 times. Good grief!

The murder mystery was a good story, and for me it was up to two men as to who the killer was, Even at 75% I was still up in the air as to who it was. AND, to be honest, I would have never guessed who the killer was. I was so far off it was ridiculous. I’m also glad the author didn’t go through descriptions of him killing the girls, which would have been a little too icky for me.

I did like the Saints: Marc, Bart, Monty, Blaise, Cam, Luke and Chad. And I really liked Gram and Sally. And I liked the underground command center, it sounded awesome. Anyway, there was, I’m positive, some explicit sex in this book, some swearing and the F-BOMB was used 107 times. So, if you don’t like swearing this book is definitely not for you.

As to the narrator: I have 335 books on Audible and I can honestly say I’ve never said this before, “the narrator was way too melodramatic.” It was kind of terrible. And when Jack was talking he didn’t sound too manly and sometimes I think the narrator forgot a man was talking altogether. Actually, none of the men sounded too manly and according to the book they were all, pretty much, giants. I think this book would have been much better if it had been narrated by a man because there were sooo many men in it.

the F word rules

Would you listen to Serial Love again? Why?

only if I can remove all the crap and replace it with my own dialog. This really had the potential to be a very good read.

What did you like best about this story?

there was mystery that was good enough to hold your attention.I hated the stupid bimbo trying to be a nice gril. She would have been better liked if she had horny collge girl wanting to get laid.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

the silly giggly goody to shoes voice that does not correlate with being a nice girl. she was supposed to be a nice girl not an idiot.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

no laughing no crying a lot of screaming and nashing of teeth. This author lives in another world than . I do .In my world a good girl looking for a white picket fence would take care of he Grandmother but she would shout fuck me to a man she has recently met.and when they go to have sex with the man of her dreams she does say loudly that I am not a virgin .What is wrong with being a virgin it sounds discriminating to me .it says I care about who I share my most intimate parts with.

Any additional comments?

I read all of the Alveres Security stories I liked Tony's story it was lighthearted and the characters had some history.

Ugh, it just felt very fake

Any additional comments?

The entire book had that amateur-author feel (sorry, I know that's harsh). The dialog between the two main characters was so awkward and stilted that at times I thought perhaps it was christian novel, but then the sex scenes ruled that out.
I just found it very silly and predictable and I would have stopped and returned it if I'd had WiFi access.

Serial Love

I hated the narrator. Her voice made the woman sound either too chipper or too whiny. Of course the character was sort of whiny, so maybe it's not altogether the narrators fault. And the hero blew hot & cold too many times. The heroine should have made him work harder to prove he really did want to be with her.

As for the story, I got to within 45 minutes of the end & still the serial killer was just a vague threat. Which means he had 30 minutes to kidnap & terrorize her & the hero only had 10 minutes to rescue her plus any possible epilogue. I couldn't finish it. 👎👎

I couldn’t finish

I really tried to finish this book but I just couldn’t manage it. It felt like a slow drawn out form of torture. I’m sorry to say this but I can’t do it
