From world-renowned New Testament scholar and biblical commentator, essential listening seeking to understand the Bible on sex and sexuality.

Sexual ethics is one of the most discussed yet often misunderstood aspects of the Bible.

Now, renowned New Testament scholar Fr. Raymond F. Collins provides you with an overview of just about everything that the New Testament has to say about sexual responsibility and ethics. In this 12-lecture audio course, you will come to understand some of the most controversial and complex topics in the Bible.

You will begin by examining the letters of Paul, which echoed a Jewish perspective for the achievement of holiness under the influence of God's gift of the Holy Spirit. You will also consider Paul's famous saying that "it is well for a man not to touch a woman", a passage that was seriously misunderstood for centuries.

Next you will examine Jesus' sayings on sexual ethics and look at the story of Jesus' encounter with the sinful woman and at the interpretation of Sodom and Gomorrah in the New Testament. Finally, you will conclude with the Christian view on marriage as found in Ephesians.

With Fr. Collins' guidance, you will gain a clear understanding of some of the most frequently debated topics in the Bible.

This course is part of the Learn25 collection and includes a free PDF study guide.

Critic reviews

"Fr. Ray Collins is one of the finest New Testament scholars in the English-speaking world. His series on the writings of St. Paul is an easy way for the ordinary person to learn more about the preaching of the apostle to the gentiles. Fr. Collins uses an easy and understandable style." I have thoroughly enjoyed several of Fr. Collin's courses. Each was excellent, Sex and the Bible is particularly thoughtful. Collins is a giant in New Testament scholarship. In this series, he sheds real light on the Bible and sexuality. He steers a middle path carefully discussing the meaning of biblical passages on sexuality and providing biblical and historical context. You will find in this course well-informed, biblically-based content delivered well by a leading expert.
