She vowed never to love....

One would hardly see a three-story mansion, unlimited bank account, and high-end clothes as a prison. But to Kaitlyn "Issy" Summers, her family's opulence only represents pain, betrayal, and fear. He vowed to make her his....

Grant Forester won't give up on the woman he has loved for years. He sees past the anger and bitterness to the wounded girl in need of healing. He has the secret to freedom if she would only trust him.

Hooked!

Oh my goodness, this is one of the best romance reads I’ve had. The narrator is excellent, the story keeps you hooked — you couldn’t ask for more.

My review

In this book we follow the life of Issy whom we met in book 1. In Shattered Rose Issy was the happy-go-lucky roommate and in this book we learn that it is all an act.

When Issy was 13 years old she finds that her mother has attempted suicide and she assumes that it is because her father is getting re-married. Issy vows to herself to never fall in love with someone because love is weakness. A series of events finally add up to show Issy that it wasn't love that drove her mother to that choice but the feeling that was the only way to escape. Luckily, Issy had several Christian friends to help her find her way out of the darkness.

It's sad when you feel like suicide is the only way out.
It's even sadder when your own father makes you feel that way.

After reading this book I understand why it's called Shackled Lily. Because Issy felt shackled and trapped in her life. I am reminded of the song Holding Nothing Back by Jesus Culture:
My chains fell off
My heart was free
