About this listen

This case is proving a difficult one for Chief Inspector Wexford. All he has to go on is his own intuitive suspicions. Was he becoming cynical and untrusting or was this one of the most ingenious crimes he had ever tackled?©1975 Ruth Rendell (P)2014 Audible, Inc. After a spate of some really ho-hum books, it is a wonderful relief to re-visit the marvelous Ms. Rendell’s work!

Ruth Rendell is the best!

What made the experience of listening to Shake Hands For Ever the most enjoyable?

I inherently love the Wexford character and Ms Rendell's ability to understand human behaviour. The performance was very good. I read in about every instance available so I appreciate the ability to "read" while I am working or driving. Never been disappointed by Ruth Rendell.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Inspector Wexford and Mrs.Wexford. She knows him and how much room he needs to work and be a feal person.

Which scene was your favorite?

When the guilty party was finally trapped. Very satisfying that hard work and belief in yourself pays off.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

That is not an option for me. These books allow me to "read" while doing other things.

Any additional comments?

If you love good characters and great writing, Ruth is there always.m

Ruth Rendell Does Not Fail You For A Good Read

I found that I did not like Wexford in this book. He comes across as obsessive and weak with regard to women. Also, he makes up his mind as to the guilty party immediately rather than steadfastly following the evidence. I found this book difficult to finish. This is not one of Rendell’s best efforts.
