Mae’s life is a delicate balance. Living with type one diabetes, navigating teaching, and managing her fractured family history isn’t easy—especially with her mother vanishing five years ago, leaving only echoes of addiction and betrayal. But Mae’s world turns upside down when her house is broken into, forcing her to seek refuge with her best friend, Pierce.
As they face the mystery of who is targeting Mae, their friendship ignites into a heated pact: a temporary romance without the risk of deeper feelings. As Mae and Pierce delve into the shadows of her past and confront the ghosts of her mother’s choices, the lines between friendship and love blur. Mae must navigate a path filled with danger, self-discovery, and heart-wrenching choices.
Can Mae reclaim her sense of safety and forge a new future without losing the love blooming between her and Pierce? Or will the weight of her past—and her heart—pull her under?

"Chasing Hearts" now. I HAVE to know what happens next! I adored the family and friend dynamics going on as well. Pierce and Mae being childhood friends to maybe something more, Pierce and Lily getting on really well, of course Pierce and his friend Jimmy were an awesome duo, Lily and Mae's sisterhood through all the bad times was a really nice touch. As someone with a sister who is sometimes hard to connect with, it was refreshing to see such tight-knit bonds throughout the characters.
I also liked that the author dove into a
mother/daughter dynamic. I know at the beginning of the book, I was questioning if the mom was going to come back. I don't see that very often. Overall, the plot, the characters, and the scenes were all beautifully written. I had an easy time imagining everything in my head and everything felt believable. While I did guess some parts, I still had a blast trying to figure out who it was and how they were connected.
The narrator did a fantastic job and really brought the characters to life!
