About this listen

From best-selling author comes a new pause-resisting series that almost feels like a screenplay.

Shots fired leaves two dead and two wounded. Detective Tap, now a widow, must try to overcome her guilt and paranoia that the shooter was after her. Afraid now that her profession has led to endangering her family, she struggles to get emotionally well so she can establish some kind of normalcy in her children's lives again and help find the killer.

Shattered

I enjoyed this book!Tap is a cop on the edge. Her husband was killed and his killer may be after the rest of her family. Ann Bumbak was a fine narrator. I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

A real treat!

Happily married with two great kids and a rewarding career, Detective Tap Greco had it all! Then one day a killer started shooting in a restaurant. Shattered is the well written story of how Tap tries to take back her life and move forward from the unthinkable. The format of Shattered was new for me. The writing resembles that of a screenplay, and I have to say, I love it! I found it to be very clear, very easy to understand and very easy to follow. I was completely immersed. I thought the story flowed smoothly with no lags. I was most impressed. I have book two and I can’t wait to get started!

Short story

Interesting story but short and not what I thought it would be. But did enjoy it and the narrator was good

Excellent mystery and shorter audiobook

I listen to audiobooks while I take long road trips, and this one was the perfect length for such a trip. I love the way the author writes her stories, She writes as if they will be a movie someday. This one is good enough to be a movie.
A shooting shatters Detective Tap's whole world, This story revolves around how she tries to put her and her children's world back together.
Believable and likable characters carry this story and as the reader, I really felt the grieving and the heartache Tap felt
while living her life after the tragedy.
Excellent writing and the narration was spot on.
Starting Book 2 next!

nice intro into a new series

good enter to new series. took a chapter two to really get into the book but as you learn more and more about the characters can't help but fall in love and care. what happens to him? can't wait to read book two. these are a little bit short so hopefully the series comes out as an anthology or a box set at some point, but definitely worth a listen. The narrator does a great job. distinct voices so easy to tell. characters apart

Interesting storyline

I liked this book and I wish I could give it a better review but I just didn't care for the narration. The narrator did a great job of voicing the characters but the 3rd person narration seemed a bit off. Maybe I will be the only person who found this off-putting but overall, I still enjoyed the story

enjoyable. Suspenseful!

with any good audio book, it begins with the narrator. There is a big difference between a narrator, and a reader. This book was done by an excellent narrator. She does a great job with her character voices. She really helps you connect with the characters, and you will come to care for each one of them. you will find yourself looking for other books by this narrator. this is the first book by this author I have read. I can tell you, I will be definitely reading a lot more! I am definitely not disappointed, and neither will you be. This is the first book in the series. as you can see, from the name of the series, the main character has a very unique name. She is called, tap, for short. Tap is a detective who is taking time off. She is still trying to recover from losing her husband, while taking care of her two children. her husband was murdered. Although she is still grieving, she desperately wants to find out who did it, and why. When you finish this book, much like me, you will instantly begin the next book in the series.

This time she hunts for the killer OF HER HUSBAND

The author is new to me as is the narrator and I enjoyed both. The detective widow was also shot when her husband was. She was unable to work on his case even if she'd been assigned. Now that she was physically well she needed to recover as a widow and mom for her two children. It is hard enough being a teen and a mother of the same even worse. Her younger daughter wants her back on the case.

As a widow myself I could put myself in the story. Building a new life. Hunting for the person who destroyed her family. Tap (yes that's her name) has a job ahead of her. If they solve the crime, what will be next for Tap and her kids? I'm about to find out reading book two in the series.

And yes, I do recommend these. They aren't long but great to listen to for bedtime or shorter blocks of time around 2 1/2 hours.
