Growing up, Melancholy faced hardships that tested her heart and her belief in love. But through it all, her dreams offered her an escape, as she found comfort in a magical world filled with Fae. In this world, she watches an elf named Kleptis Klein and his sister Mystic, skilled assassins employed by the Thieves Guild in Jelaria. As they go on heists and adventures, Mel works as an escort in the real world. They were her closest friends, and they helped her throughout her life even if they didn't know it. As she deals with a cruel reality, Melancholy finds herself feeling more at home in this dream world and longs to stay there permanently. She would die to adventure in Jelarai with her friends. Although she knows that the world she escapes to might just be a figment of her imagination, she doesn't mind. Dreams are always better than reality.
Working at the club Babydolls was not where she thought her life would go, but when you have no family and no money, you had to take what life gave you and make shitty lemonade out of it.

AMAZING STORY!!
This is probably one of the most interesting stories I’ve read! I love the way the 2 worlds existed and how M.T. Effortlessly stitched them together! It was engaging right off the bat and I honestly and SO stinking excited to read the next one!!

Alice in Wonderland meets Sleeping Beauty
This story is incredible, normally anything that starts out in a human realm has me a bit bored but I was hooked the entire time. The story is beautifully curated by M.T and I’m excited to read book two!

Wow
This was such a fun read. I love how the narrator brought it to life. Mel’s life is not easy but it’s hers. The fae world she dreams about is captivating and makes me wish my dreams would venture there. I can’t wait to listen to book 2!

Such a great reading experience
An amazing story from beginning to end with mild spice. The small details that are consciously placed that give you profound insights to the story but are not explicitly told just ads so much to the story. Keeps your mind engaged and leaves you hungry for more! Can’t wait for broken gates

Wonderful portal fantasy!
I loved this! Hanna Harp did such a great job with the narration. The story was a phenomenonal mix of fantasy and modern world. Can't wait for the second book!
