Hazardous homecoming...

Witnessing a prison break, FBI agent Julianne Martinez is within seconds of death...before she's rescued by the one man she thought she'd never see again. She'd know her long-ago love, Brody Kenner, anywhere, even with a sheriff star on his chest. Years ago she left Texas and Brody, and had no plans of returning...until the trail of a missing agent brought her home to both.

Brody won't let her investigation proceed without him, and he needs her and her K-9 dog to track his escaped prisoner. But partnering with Julianne to solve two cases only leads to danger when the hunted becomes the hunter. This is a mission that cannot fail...because Brody lost Julianne once, and he won't lose her again.

I really liked it

Great story! Lots of action and characters were very easy to envision! Definitely would suggest to others. Religion did play a big part of the characters story, but it wasn't denominational nor did I feel it was overly pushy.

A good listen

The story is pretty good and the action is consistent throughout. My biggest complaint is that the narrator mispronounced "idea" as "idear" ugh!!! There was another one but that's the one that stuck with me as it was used often.

Suspense, action, clean romance, good performance

This book has lots of suspense, lots of twists, action, and a clean renewed romance though it is a bit slow moving sometimes. I like the characters including the K-9 of course. Brody got on my nerves in parts with all of his "it's my fault" the friend committed crimes because Brody joined the Army and left the guy. I really got tired of that! But other than that, the book was enjoyable. The performance is very good.

Good plot, likable characters, meh romance

The plot was interesting with believable story elements. I liked the dogs. I liked how the male protagonist had to learn to believe in God’s forgiveness.

I thought the relationship distance between the two was silly. They only needed to be honest and direct with each other, but the author had them constantly assuming they knew what the other person was thinking and making plans without talking to the other. Adults cannot have a relationship with each other unless they communicate. I just kept fast forwarding every time the author rehashed those kinds of sentiments. The characters had the relationship communication skills of high schoolers.

Really disliked the main female character

I had a very difficult time making it through this book, mainly, because of the distaste I had with how the author painted the main characters, especially, the female character, Julianne. Bullying behavior, either emotional or physical, out of either males or females, I find disgusting. I about quit listening to the book when the character, Julianne, is thinking, that Brodie didn't love her being she couldn't emotionally bully him into targeting his past friend, Nate, without any probable cause and just because Julianne had a 'feeling' he was guilty and didn't like the guy. It didn't matter if it was a situation of whether she was right or wrong, and the character, Nate, was a rat, or good guy. She was demanding of, Brodie, to violate his principles that are based on law, and our Constitution. She also blamed Brodie because he wasn't willing to pick up and follow her to be in the FBI. Then, stupidly, she thinks he doesn't love her being he won't bow to her demands. That is not a relationship built on mutual respect for each other.

In addition, this character, Julianne, was a person that in real life, I'd have a hard time even tolerating, as she appears to have a chip on her shoulder. Good grief, it was even so silly as when they'd found a hotel that allowed pets, she seemed to take offense, when Brodie told her that they allowed, pets, because her dog was a police dog. I like canine books, but I doubt if I'll listen to another one out of this series, or, from this author. Even more sickening, the guy Brodie, in the end, is convinced he did wrong, by not violating his ethics in targeting someone without cause. That was gag worthy, IMHO.

As a female, I found the radical feminist push, over the top, and not only silly, but unrealistic as well as offensive.
