About this listen

Irrepressible. Different. Tenacious. Meet Lucy James, PI in training. Lucy can't seem to finish college and seems stuck in her movie theater job. But she's always been good at figuring out puzzles and a big one drops right in her lap in the shape of an umbrella left behind one rainy night. It turns out something's very wrong at the local art museum and with her best friend, Cindy, and trusty dog, Baskerville, she attempts to find out what. With a little help from her mentor, Sherlock Holmes, Lucy weaves her way through a complicated maze of danger with the occasional spider stepping in to ratchet up the stakes. She meets handsome professor, Eric, along the way and falls for him knowing full well he could be the culprit in the web she's entangled in. Nancy Drew has nothing on this girl, but will her meddling cause trouble to come crashing down on them all?

Plot cute, not suspenseful

The plot was very cute. The characters were too silly for me and the narrator couldn’t really change voices for characters. She had a much older voice for the young characters. I listen to many mysteries. If “cute” and light is your book than try this one.

A New Sherlock?

This was my first experience with S J Slagle's work and it was fun. Lucy James is a girl that enjoys figuring out puzzles and she is good at it. When an umbrella is left in the theater where Lucy works, she is taxed with the job of trying to find out to whom the umbrella belongs. Lucy feels a kinship with the fictional character of Sherlock who was invented by Arthur Conan Doyle and I enjoyed the way the author incorporated some of the phrases and methodology that perpetrated the original Sherlock stories. I recommend this book to others who enjoy mysteries with convoluted plots and some flashes of humor. Darlene Allen's narration is great and her voice is expressive. I was given a free copy of the audiobook and I have voluntarily left this review.

Cute

Different and cute. Lucy caught up in her movie theatre job. Sees and umbrella that was left. With Cindy and dog Bakersfield, they explore. Which led to meeting the professor Eric.
Like the play on the words in reference to Sherlock. Cute mystery and enjoyable audio. Given for my voluntary review and my honest opinion

Entertaining

Cute tale of a young woman with aspirations of being like Sherlock Holmes. An adorable dog (Baskerville) and a bff/Watson round out her crew. Several enjoyable characters, along with those not desirable ones.
