About this listen

All she wanted was one last summer at the beach house...

Claire Thompson's trip to the family beach house has gotten far more complicated than she'd ever expected. Grieving her late husband's sudden death, Claire and her daughter, along with Claire's sister and mom, are struggling to make sense of the mess he's left them with.

How on earth did he have another family she never knew about? How did he keep that secret for so many years? Claire fights with her feelings as she tries to find a way forward. All she really knows is that her husband wasn't the man she thought he was.

All she can hope for is that he'll do the right thing in his will and leave Claire enough to live on. She already knows she's going to have to sell the beach house. Will she have to sell her home, too? She hopes not.

Every day, it feels like the sand is shifting beneath her feet, and Claire is doing everything she can to stay upright. Will it be enough?

I love Maggie Miller books… however this narrators way of “up talking”, I find annoying.

Book content is great, but narrators voice is annoying

Difficult to listen to at times due to narrators habit of ending most sentences on a high note. Does great job on different voices and doesn’t always end on high note with them.

Narrators style

Once again Ms. Miller presents a light, fun story with characters so believable and easy to imagine. Although the performance is often hard to listen to . If you can make it through a few chapters you can overlook the voice lift at the end of each sentence. The performer does do a fair job with the characters voices.
Book overall was great.

Maggie Miller doesn't disappoint

that it took listening to two separate books to get to the reading of the will

Loved how this book ended & was so unpredicted! Did not see that coming-how it ended but a perfect ending to an odd situation.

I love how the family bonded in the very odd situation!

Similar to the other books I enjoy Maggie Millers stories. Interesting twist in the first book. Endings keep you wanting more. Can't wait for the last book in the series!

Enjoy the cliffhanger endings

It’s difficult to get past the voice lift that ends two of every three sentences. It’s a predicable rhythm, up-up-down…up-up-down. I do love the story, but I have to be in the mood to listen past the narration, as it does distract from the story. The voices seem pretty distinguishable, and are performed well. It’s just the lift at the end makes everything sound like a question.

The narration? Not in a good way?
