About this listen
Life in the city is hectic and noisy, but in a tiny town up north where her grandparents live, there is no notion of time for Shorty Bean and her beloved pet, Smarty. Together they discover a divine power that has been dormant for many years as they explore the Gazman Forest where they meet a bald eagle, an Indian chief, a blind cat, an anxious turtle, an Irish porcupine, a military fish, and a royal frog. But these discoveries are not without opposition as she encounters the winds of the north, the ravens of the air, and the black bears.
This story is about a New World seen in the eyes of a little girl. A story of perseverance, family values, wonderful friends and divine destiny.
Join the adventures of the Shorty Bean series, and discover an entire world filled with imagination that is just waiting for you to begin!

Good for young listeners not much to give elsewise
This is an okay story for smaller children probably ages 5-10. Lots of events happen just to say they happened and don't affect the story in the slightest. Shorty goes on adventures to collect coins for a magic locket and meets many of the denizens of the forest. Shorty's voice does indeed sound like a small child, and some of the adventures are whimsical enough to be fun to listen to, but overall if you are looking for a challenging book that is well put together for anyone older than 10 or for a family story, I would advise against this one.

Fun Short Faith-Oriented Story
The Shorty Bean stories (Enchanted Coins and Coin of Fire) are short, fun and imaginative stories oriented around faith and belief, with light allegories to points of the Christian faith. Fun for young listeners with religious overtones and lessons in line with Narnia.

Father & Daughter Charming Duo
Adorably narrated!
These family friendly stories were so cute!
I’ve been in the trenches with COVID-19 (working in a hospital). This book was so light and helpful as I transitioned from work to home life!
