About this listen

Dakota Hart was resigned to the fact that she was going to be married to the ranch and not a cowboy for the rest of her life. Jace Driscol was a reporter in need of hands-on experience to write his next book about the American cowboy. Sometimes the road of life takes us places we need to go and shows us who we should have been all along.

This was my first Cara North's book. This is the first book in the Lone Lee Hart Ranch Series, a contemporary romance. Dakota and Jace's story is fast-paced, sweet and sexy. The secondary characters are great and intriguing. Emily Wild did a good job with the narration. Looking forward to listen to the next book in the Series, Fishin' in the Dark, Montana's story.

Sweet Story

I listened to this sweet story in audiobook form. Dakota is smart and kind but has serious body and self-esteem issues. Jace is hot but doesn’’t dwell on it. He is smart and kind and has issues of his own. Watching these two find each other and bring out the best in each other was enough to bring a tear to my eyes. A sweet escape.

Nice quick love story but I wasn’t a huge fan of the main female character.

Where most cowboys stories star the male as a cowboy, I love the fact that four sister run the ranch. Dakota is a female that a lot of us can relate to as one with self-esteem issues not trusting at first the attraction Jace feels for her. I like reading how they got to explore trusting each other with what one doesn't like about oneself. Can't wait to read about the other three sisters. I love intelligent and considerate men, so Jace was hitting all the right notes. Now the narrator. I know this is probably going to be unexpected, but the first 5 seconds of hearing her I was a goner. Goosebumps down entire body. She has this slower way of reading that draws you in and wraps the story around you like lassoing you with a rope. Love her voice and really hope I get a chance to listen to her read other books.
