About this listen

Siddhartha, written by Hermann Hesse in 1920 deals with a man's lifelong search for self discovery during the time of Buddha. He grows up the son of a Brahman, and his quest for self discovery takes him through living as an asthetic until he actually meets the Buddha, but decides not to follow him, but rather discover the joys of sex and a wealth through a beautiful courtesan. He lives the life of the Playboy until one day he renounces it all to seek a more spiritual being. In the end Siddhartha does find enlightenment.

Relaxing

I enjoyed this book reading much. At first, the man’s voice seems so deep and earnest, but quickly I realized that it is perfect for the material.

The story was one that I think we can all relate to. It had some unexpected twists and a series of deeply human characters who display many facets of what it might mean to be human.

Siddhartha is “up there” on the list, especially if you like to ponder about life, death, meaning, nothingness, dark, light - or anything in between.

Mumbling performance

How could the performance have been better?

This review is not about the story in the book, just the audio. The reader is almost impossible to understand. Very much mumbling and unclear word. Recommend to download another version of this audiobook.
