About this listen

Fifteen years ago: A teenage girl is viciously assaulted as she picks flowers in a field one night in midsummer. The crime is never reported. Present day: A man with no identification on his person is killed in a hit-and-run. He is never reported missing. Across the city, a priest and his wife are found dead in an apparent suicide. Fredrika Bergman is assigned to the case. What she and her colleagues discover is that a sinister evil, the roots of which date back decades, is the link behind these seemingly unrelated crimes. There's a reason why none of them were ever reported, and it has to do with a shocking and horrendous cover-up unlike anything Fredrika could have possibly imagined.

Skillfully crafted and highly suspenseful, Silenced is a gripping thriller in which the consequences of past tragedies continue to haunt the present, reaching further and deeper than anyone ever expected.

Another excellent story

I like the actress reading it a lot, except I think giving everyone accents while keeping the narration unaccented is a novel idea but unnecessary. Just do everyone English with different voices- a whole bunch of accented English speakers becomes confusing and a little bit tedious.

This is the second novel I have read/listened to by Ohlsson and I think she's very good!

page turner into the night!

Would you consider the audio edition of Silenced to be better than the print version?

be sure to give yourself plenty of time to listen to this.

What aspect of Justine Eyre’s performance would you have changed?

the Swedish accent did not help here at all, but distracted from the very good story.

Any additional comments?

I liked the background stories of the team.

Excellent story spoilt by narrator

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

Not really. I would have preferred to read it as the narrator spoilt it for me.

What did you like best about this story?

The story was fascinating and full of detail and interest.

What didn’t you like about Justine Eyre’s performance?

Justine Eyre's voice sounds creaky and irritated me from the first few words onwards. All her men sound the same which was confusing. I would like to hear the other Ohlsson books but as they're all narrated by the same person, I will be forced to by the Kindle versions.
