About this listen
Why Is It Vital To Tame Your Inner Critic & Win The Battle In Your Mind?
In many ways the mind is like a battlefield, with discouraging, self-defeating, intrusive thoughts fighting for our attention. A battlefield is the ground or arena upon which a battle or war is fought. And since we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places (Ephesians 6: 12). It’s imperative that we become vigilant about disarming the negative voice inside our heads that seeks to undermine our confidence, tarnish our true identity and that works overtime to try and convince us to believe that who we are authentically is not enough.
Without even realizing it, we talk to ourselves all day every day. And for most of us, this self-talk is negative, discouraging and repetitive. What’s more is this negative internal dialogue that we allow to dominate our thinking eventually becomes part of our core belief system. And if our thoughts are rooted in self-defeating beliefs, then everything that flows from that belief system will be framed through the lens of self-doubt and insecurity. That’s why it’s crucial that we learn to disarm unhealthy, ungodly self-talk by taking our thoughts captive (2 Corinthians 10:5) and renewing our minds regularly (Romans 12:2) through reading, praying and affirming scripture and then doing what the scriptures say to do. By doing this we are better able to make a mental paradigm shift to a framework that empowers us to align our internal narrative with who God says we are in the scriptures.
It is my hope and prayer that the prayers in the book help you to take control of your thought life and develop a more empowering, life-affirming scripturally-based mindset.
