About this listen

A REALM AWARD WINNER!

An innocent naiad. A wounded boy. An adventure that will change their lives forever.

Plip is a naiad of the Great Waterfall, destined to one day sing the songs that send rain out into the world. Akino isn't destined for anything but trouble. His father long gone, his mother working on a plantation far away, he doesn't really belong in the village below the Waterfall. And the villagers don't let him forget it.

When Akino convinces Plip to travel down the mountain with him, for his own selfish purposes, he launches them into a world more dangerous than either of them could imagine. A world where people are not always what they seem and the rain does not fall evenly across the land.

This book has been on my list for a while, and I recently received a copy of the audiobook from the author for an unbiased review. Can I just say, wow!

Sing to Me of Rain is charming, middle grade adventure about a nyad named Plip and her human friend, Akino. The children in this story act like children, not miniature adults, so you can the author knows her stuff. The story had Chronicles of Chronicles of Narnia vibes while taking place in an original world. If I ever have kids, I want them to read this one. By the time I reached the end, I didn't want the story to be over.

Sing to Me of Rain by E.B. Dawson, is a beautiful story about growing up and discovering your purpose. This plot was so interesting and need to me, that I truly had no idea where the characters would go, or what they would do, next.

Plip is a delight. All innocence and wonder about the world. Akino is cynical and jaded. They make the perfect pair.

The narrator is fantastic with the voices of the various characters. He really brought the story to life.
